i am currently using bittorrent but it is not consistent (single digit KB downloads)

what do you guys use to download your (non-copywritten) stuff?
Well, a lot of people use utorrent, and that's actually being merged to be the next version of the official "Bittorrent" client. I myself prefer Azureus. I can spare the 50 or so Megs of ram for all of the features, speed/etc it has to offer. I've never been a fan of utorrent. I recommend just trying as many as possible, and seeing what's best.

BTW utorrent is Windows only. What's your OS? Because each OS has some nice platform exclusive torrent apps.
i have heard good thing about azurous, might try that

i have only used bittorent on my windows machine,

never tried anything on my macbook yet
I had used bittorrent for a long while, than decided to try utorrent and was pleasantly surprised. I like it much better. I didn't try Azureus for the same reason sc7 mentioned before with the taking up of to much RAM...
meh, I have utorrent installed on my brother's computer. Works fine for the few times I need it.
utorrent is pretty sexy, I use flashget because it has an HTTP download manager built in XD
I tried using BitComet recently but for some reason things weren't working too well. I'm going back to uTorrent.
Utorrent is far better than Azureus. Utorrent is a SINGLE file thats only 173k and uses less than 7mb of ram. Compare that to the slow ram hog that Azureus is
On my macs, I like to run Transmission for my torrents.

You're absolutely right! uTorrent is written much better. If I didn't have my router forwarded and everything so perfectly for Azureus, I probably would take the plunge. I just wish they'd do one of the following to uTorrent (preferably both)

a). Release the source code
b). Produce Mac OS X/Linux/BSD etc. ports of it.

I like the app, but I don't wanna be completely tied to Windows for a torrent app. I'd really like to run the lightweight torrent app on my lightweight custom compiled linux kernel (from scratch), since the two would go hand in hand. My Vista install isn't exactly my "lightweight" OS install.

Why not use the UPNP function of Utorrent? Mine forwards its own port automatically on startup. I have it set to randomize the port every time so the ISP never tries to throttle me.
Last time I started it the program chose port 49060 and before that it was 21516.

Of course why?

I'm quite the fan of uTorrent myself Smile
I use BitComet. But because of all the stuff being said here I may switch to uTorrent...
Ive been using utorrent for a while now. I haven't even updated to the newest version yet... mine is pretty old...
I am a user of teh uTorrent. It satisfies all my torrent needs.
