I would recommend Please Save My Earth by Saki Hiwatari. The manga is a bit dated, but the story is well worth reading. I believe the whole series is 21 volumes total.
Also, anything by Chika Shiomi is worth reading. Her manga stories are usually very short (no more than 8-9 volumes), so they're always good for a quick read.
FYI, shoujo is a term that refers to an anime or manga that is intended for the female audience. Ones intended for males are referred to as shounen.
ANYWAY, I'd recommend Ah! My Goddess. I'm not exactly sure which one it is, but it's more or less a love story. Also a good read for people fond of the "super girlfriend" type of story.
