You know that plasma pistol "noob combo" in Halo 2? Well every game seems to have one doesn't it... Mario Strikers, has a lot of them. All overused and abused.

Noob Combos that make you an absolute noob and will get you nothing but disrespect amongst the online community:

  • Toad - Jumping over the goalkeeper. It is way too easy to do, and hard to stop because toad is so fast.
  • Hammer Bros. - That stupid annoying hammer attack from a d-pad press. Anyone on WiiLoaded who's played online will tell you how overused it is. NGamer magazine said in one issue that they would delete anyone who uses that tactic from their friendlist.
  • Boo - Going up to the goalkeeper, hitting the d-pad and hitting B straight after. Guaranteed goal everytime. I even tried it one match and won (by a lot).
  • Birdo - Charge skill shot and then hit the d-pad, which makes he spin around and keep charging her shot. It's overly difficult to stop.
  • Donkey Kong - This isn't bad at all, but can peeve you off. He charges his MegaStrike, and then the person presses the d-pad halfway through which causes him to beat his chest and knock everyone down. Extremely similar to Birdo's move, except this one gets you a MegaStrike.
  • Peach - Can disappear and reappear in the goal. Hard to do, so actually pretty respectable to pull off.

Can anyone add any more?
dry bones - you click the d-pad right before the goalie and transport straight in the goal. kind of like peach but i think its easier to do
I was going to put it there, but in my opinion, it is actually very hard to do, and can only really be done by masters Big Grin

(I can't even do it Toungue)

But the boo thing I just "tried out" in a quick wi-fi match, and I scored like three times. Just to prove how stupid it is, the other guy disconnected pretty fast.
Hmmm. Well ive come across people online quite alot out of the top 100 and most of them use one of those combos. They are just another way of winning. Why choose the hard route when there is an easy one. Plus if your good enough you can stop most of these people before they even try use one of those "noob combos before they even get close to your goal.
I understand what you mean, but in my opinion, it's a ridiculously easy way to win, and people eventually prey on these moves, and to be quite honest, it makes the game quite repetitive and boring, similar to "having to snake" in Mario Kart DS to win most games
Smile

I also understand where your coming from. But I generaly only play online with a friend. Which makes it really fun, one of us takes care of the defending and bashing, while the other goes for goal.

If you have a good team and you work well together then you should be able to stop "noobs" from using those type combos. Big Grin
Yup, but when these noobs have been relying on these combos since day one, then urgh, its annoyingly difficult Big Grin
i just played and tht dry bones thing was hard Toungue
but you can do that peach transport thing with waluigi also
You better not rely on them dawg, it makes you look ghey LOL
Lol it doesn't matter wether you look "ghey". Its about winning not looking good. Toungue
i dont use those i just played with my cousin and tried them to see if it was easy or not
but im still amazingWink
I tend to use the toad jumping skill a lot.

The hammer bro hammer attack is the worst IMO it is over used by a lot of people.

I was thinking sometimes you get the people who when they are winning will just keep the ball under position without attacking. Like they may just hold it with monty mole and use his burrow when people come near.

with anyone with an annoying d-pad move: just go near them, wait till they use it and immediately after its done, hit them or steal the ball. simple as that. with birdo: if she is going to her special shot which gets an automatic goal, go in front of her shot so it hits u and doesnt make it to the goally. all u have to do is fake all the people out and u can get the ball. also if people abuse air passing, just press "A" near the ball when the other team is about to receive it and u intercept and pass it. simple things will stop the abuser... like me. but if im in the tournament, i wont be gay like that

i promise i will never do any of that stuff during a game. i just got my ass handed to me by a noob. he got one goal over the goally, i stopped him most of the time cause i knew what he was doing. he only won because he had waluigi and his damn special. i did luckily win 1 of the 3. he couldnt get by my skillz. i am very angry right now but proud i won one of the three

i agree with ninty and also not becase if ur good then u should be able to stop them and hit them before they can power up. but at the same time they should get some real skill and stop using cheep tactics
foil their plans and they r useless

most plans are but i played a noob with 3 boos and after he scored he just ran away. sadly, i lost but i did win 1 game by a lot

all u have to do is fake them out. when they have the ball, go near them and they will try to deke, after they do that it takes a litttle bit for them to be able to deke again. if they pass it quickly press a to go to the nearest character and then press a again when the ball is near, u will steal/pass the ball. its very simple. i do agree with u that running is a very cowardice move. if there is 20 seconds left, i will then try to waste time but if there is alot of time i will try to score... etc.

i tried to but i couldnt catch up to them

I've pulled the Dry Bones deke trick a couple times. It's pretty hard to do, and takes skill to perfect.

I just used the always white ball cheat and found that all of the transport dekes (dry bones, waluigi, daisy, etc...) will go a lot further when the ball is white. i did it and can get to the goalie from midline with waluigi
