I was just at Walmart a while ago and was very surprised by what I saw. They had both HD DVD players and Blu Ray players available for purchase.

The first thing that surprised me was that the HD DVD player was only $49 cheaper then it's Blu Ray counterpart. Also I was surprised that Walmart literally had 8X the selection of Blu Ray movies. Most of them were priced at $26.00 or below where as the HD DVD movies were priced at $29.

Both the HD DVD and Blu Ray players were fairly large as if they were 1st gen, but only having a $49 price difference made me very happy/

When there's only a handful of movies from 3 major studios available on HD-DVD, how many movies can they possibly stock?

thats why i just get the 360 hd-dvd player for only $200 with king kong movive becausse its fairly small like a DVD drive, but now its $179 now with the king kong and 5 HD-DVD movies by mail . but i have both formats cuz my PS3 has it

cool, I was just surprised that there weren't more HD DVD movies, but I guess sc7's explanation does make sense. can anyone tell me why HD DVD is pricing their movies more expensive?
