I was wondering if any of you guys who have modded their wiis with modchips such as cyclowiz or wiikey can play their backups online ?
for example mario strikers

also does anyone know any sites where you can download backups?

please dont lock this if someone posts a website.. its not advertising
Downloading game backups is illegal. Discussion of that subject will not continue.

You may continue discussion about online games and mod chips
Yes, so far there are no troubles getting online with backup copies of games.
i heard that in the new update that if you have a modded wii it could brick or something.. whats really going on?
would nintendo be able to detect the chips if ur online?
I don't know about that, but they do find ways to block the chip with firmware updates and brick your console.
They can't purposely brick your console.
how could they find ways to brick your wii? i thought they couldnt detect it?
Most chips run in a mode that makes them hard to find. The biggest thing lately is that the WiiKey config and boot disc no longer work after the firmware upgrade, but the WiiKey development team is working on a new one.
Yeah and you only need the disc if you want to change your system to play other region games. It still runs undetected and don't let that little message from Nintendo scare you. Will they ever be able to block it? Who knows, only time will tell. Even then I'm sure that "they'll" find a way around the block in a matter of time.
whats in the message they send?
When you are about to update they warn you that you should NOT do this update if you are using a modified system as it may break it or something like that. They just want you to think that so that you don't update and you won't be able to play some games that require you to update.
so how much does this modchip cost. and if it costs like 20$ y is it worth it?
so you only need a new boot disc and config if you are playing other regioned games for the wiikey?
You only need the config disc if you want to change some configurations (i'm not sure if region lock is enabled or disabled by default on the wiikey), but it will still play backups without ever using the config disc. The boot discs, I think, are separate from chips, as some bootloaders let you play out of region games without hardware modifications (Gamecube only I think).

Metroid Prime 3 required an update that again gave a warning message for modified consoles, but did not corrupt (no pun intended) my wiikey'ed Wii in any way that I can find so far.
everything is running for the wiikey? no worries?
I dont think going online with a mod would be possible, because on PS2, if you try to go online with a codebreaker, it won't let you connect to any server

I can guarantee 100% that the Wii has absolutely no trouble going online with any game and a modchip at this point in time.

The Wiikey works just fine, but no, the old configuration disc no longer works, but it's only a matter of time before they release a new one. As we said before, though, you can still play your backups and imports without the configuration disc.
