Microsoft announced at Comic-Con International that they're dropping the price of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive. The price will drop from $199 to $179. Also, similar to the move by the Blu-Ray Association, purchasing the HD-DVD Drive allows you to select 5 HD-DVD movies (out of 15) to get for free. This deal only last from August 1 to September 30th.
Sounds like Microsoft is more into HD-DVD than they're letting on. It's only a shame that the 360 Elite didn't come with an HD-DVD drive. And if Blu-Ray wins, then what's the point of having the HD-DVD drive? At least if Blu-Ray fails, Sony can continue using it for a storage medium. But what good would it do if you buy the HD-DVD player and then there are no longer any HD-DVD movies?
