So I just went to see The Simpsons Movie. It was funny and all, but I thought the story was terrible.

One point here is about the Irish dude, Colin. I know it was a joke and all that, and that it was based on stereotypes, but let me just stress that we don't sound like that, dress like that, listen to U2, love the environment (apparently Ireland is one of the dirtiest countries in the Northern world), and don't say "Top of the mornin' to ye'" If you want to know what Irish people sound like, Skype me, you'll be surprised how normal I sound.

So in general I thought the Simpsons Movie was funny, but like I already mentioned, the story genuinely was awful, like one of those new, bad episodes. What did you guys think of it?

Also, do you guys think the Spoiler: (hover to reveal the text)
"sequel?"
thing at the end was a joke or not?
From what I heard it was a great film. Speaking of which I need to so see it.

I wouldn't get to annoyed about The Simpsons stereotyping Irish people. Tv does it all the time which various cultures and things. Its just life.
wow.

don't take stereotypes so deep. Otherwise I'd be going everywhere proving I don't speak with a stiff upper lip and spend my time drinking tea and eating crumpets.

Except when some prepubescent twat on XBL does suggest such a thing, just remind him how insignificant and pitiful his life actually is ^^

Hey bitch, I'm english.

Lol CZMQ who was that aimed at? Americans in general?

EDIT:

Ahhhh. I get you.
The movie really wasn't great. I thought it would have allusions to past episodes, or something, but as you said, it was more of a lengthened episode. Not to say it was terrible, though, because it wasn't by any means. About the sterotypes... they do it all the time, it's one of the things its' known for. I'd not be surprized if there were more, but, for the most part, it was more about Springfeild. For the spoiler, apparently they're in the works. (Watch the credits, if you don't understand.)
Of course the Simpsons movie story wasn't amazing... its the Simpsons. Go and see it for a laugh.

Don't take anything from it to heart... its just a comedy which draws on stereotypes for jokes.
Simpsons has allways steriotyped everyone, eh?
english
brittish
canadian
japaniese
chinese
hics
*Australians.
Well, I wouldn't expect the story to be much greater then the series (unless you're saying it's worse?) but surprisingly you're the first person I've seen that's said much bad about it Smile
If you don't like satire dude then don't watch The Simpsons, bottom line.
Did this really need its own thread? <_<

And the Irish jokes were funny.

"Are You Bono? No"
"Is your Dad Bono? No"
"I thought your dad- NO!"

xD?

Ah, but there was. I didn't notice it the first time I watched it but...

When Bart and Homer are going over Springfield Gorge on the motorcylce (that alone is an allusion to the episode where Homer tried to skateboard across) they cut to a shot of the camera at their backs, facing the edge that they'd just missed reaching. You can see off to the left the ambulance that Homer was put in after failing to skateboard across the gorge, still crushed up against the tree like it hasn't been moved since.
I thought the simpsons movie was great, and through the whole running of the series its always had sterotypess, nothign to get offended bye.

Although, you'd probably take more offence to family guy, its worst then the simpsons

anyways, simpsons movie FTW , if you dont like it then screw you. Smile
