Now that loads of women are buying a DS, somebody needs to teach them things. Like their place. Enter Ubisoft with their Imagine series, aimed at instructing 6-14 year-old girls in the sacred, lost arts of womanhood. Things like cooking, fashion design and the making, and subsequent caring, for babies. Those are actually three of the first games in the series, with further titles to come including things like...Figure Skating, and another cooking game. Because girls are never too young to start learning about the glass ceiling, right Ubisoft? What's next? We kicked a few possible suggestions around Kotaku Tower.
Imagine: Speaking When Spoken To
Imagine: Barefoot & Pregnant
Imagine: Shut the **** up *****, im watchin my wrasslin'
Imagine: Not Talking About Who Made A Disparaging Comment About Your Outfit Today
Imagine: The Propagation Of Female Gaming Stereotypes
Ubisoft, you can have those for free. Because after all, pigeon-holing is cheap.

Oh God, Ubisoft. What compelled you to make this?
Check it out now Lemon, I updated the post with the other two games also. I'm not sure how everyone else will take it, but these games seem a bit odd to me.
Gotta say, I do like this one though: Imagine: Shut the **** up *****, im watchin my wrasslin'
Are these fake or real?
Anyway, Cooking Mama has covered cooking games already, so that's no biggie.
XD I love the images...they're terribly fake, but it's scary to imagine what they'd really look like...
Imagine™ Fashion Designer
Imagine™ Animal Doctor
Imagine™ Babyz®
Imagine™ Master Chef
Imagine™ Figure Skater
those are the five they have lined up...although they do seem targeted toward girls, guys could play too...my uncle is a head chef, another is a doctor in an animal hospital. the Babyz is the only one that seriously...confuses me...and makes me sort of scared.
Lol, funny fake images. They add fuel to the sexist fire.
Also Ubisoft says these titles are "relevant to what girls in this age group have indicated they are most interested in." I hope I never meet a little girl that says she's interested in babies. =p

the Babyz one...is not going to help the teenage pregnancy rate...and it'll probly make kids ask "mommy, where to babies come from?" a lot sooner and more often than they already do...hope the parents are prepared >.>
Sadly enough, I think those are the real box covers.
It's one thing to train and play with dogs, ponies, and cat, but we all know this isn't going to be a realistic baby sim. It's gonna be goo goo and ga ga and oh the babies smiling, blow on it's tummy stuff, that might just give younger woman the wrong idea about how difficult childcare can be.
The Maurey Povich show is gonna love this game.
-------------------edit
You and I must have posted at the same time LZ, but I went to your link and found this:
The Imagine line allows girls to explore their favorite interests and hobbies...
So I wonder if the baby one will be about babysitting?
The image says "Imagine Babies" and the game is called "Imagine Babyz". Typo on your own box art? Doesn't sound like it.
Besides, raising a baby isn't fun. What did they hope to accomplish?
theyre not real box covers...they have watermarks over a bunch of the images...see how it says istock photo over the babies in the first one? it means it was taken from the site, and not paid for. i highly doubt that Ubisoft would steal an image like that -_-;;
The fashion designer looks evil...
I doubt these games will sell well, they may stir up controversy though.
Let's pretend this is the 1950's and make a game that teaches typing skills and the properly smile when your boss smacks you on the butt.
The Animal Doctor game could be cool, but I doubt if you'll import your Nintendog and do surgery.
You never know.. female gamers might love the chance to look after babies and sort out fashion.. at least they didn't go too far.. coulda easily been completly insulting and made a 'Cleaning' game.
So I wonder if the baby one will be about babysitting?
from what I saw in the description of it here, it looks like babysitting, and keeping up a house. honestly, that's the only one I would have an issue with, if at all...
Imagine™ Fashion Designer - learn the basics of sewing, without pricking your finger with the needles, create your own designs, etc...not that bad
Imagine™ Animal Doctor - we all need doctors. think Trauma Center...for little kids, and on animals.
Imagine™ Babyz® - babysitting and taking care of a house?
Imagine™ Master Chef - cooking. i can't cook for beans, but who knows, they could learn terms and measurements with it...
Imagine™ Figure Skater - not sure about this one...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
THEY HAVE TO KEEP THE HOUSE CLEAN!
Oh man... Ubisoft. Don't try and target the casual audience anymore... please. =p
from what I saw in the description of it

Maybe the gal will get lucky and the house will have a roomba.
roomba info
Is there going to be a computer simulated father active in this game? Or are we going to teach girls at a young age that it's ok for single mothers to be commonplace? Don't even get me started on the social ramifications of this.
As odd as I think these games are...I think having a husband factor or father figure for 6-14 year old girls might be even more creepy. Maybe they'll be able to set him personality up to have different level of jerk.
easy---just got home and tired
medium--frozen pizza again!!!
hard--I'm gonna move my girlfriend in baby
