Microsoft has just confirmed that HDMI is now standard with the Premium version of the Xbox 360, now priced at $350. The retooled Premium 360, sporting the fancy HDMI, will sport an HDMI logo on the outside of the box, a Microsoft rep told Kotaku.

"Yes, we are offering an HDMI port for Xbox 360 simply as another choice in Xbox 360 owners' games and entertainment experience. Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand."

that's cool, i guess. i only have one HDMI port, and if im gonna use it, it'll probably be for a PS3. looking beyond the fact that now the only difference between the elite and premium is the HDD capacity, what i find interesting is that they are able to do this after the recent price drop announcement. my guess is that they might be breaking even on these consoles if theyre adding features to one of their SKUs.

man i got pwned. i bough a 360 a month before the price drop. dang.
I'm not too worried. I need my HDMI port for my PS3 too, and I use VGA (which has nearly the same quality) anyway.
If these have the 65nm chips, along with the price drop, I could see myself getting a new Premium 360 as a personal Christmas present for $349.99.
So when they start putting HDMI in them, if I have to send my 360 in (under warranty) will they send me one with HDMI?

That depends, where do you live? In the United States, we lack consumer protection laws so the *cough*draconiancapitalistbastards*cough* can get away with sending you a refurb, which most likely means no unless you send it in like a year from now (although these may work better, and never get in cirulation). If you live in Canada, I hear that because of laws, Microsoft is required to send customers a new unit, which means it's pretty much guaranteed, as they're likely to get fresher ones sooner, and thus, shipping them.
