I have noticed a huge difference in the temperature of my Wii after the recent update. Before a few days ago, my Wii, after a few days of being on WiiConnect24 standby, had an expanded left side of the case, and used to be an awful lot warmer on the side.
This cannot be a coincidence. I wonder has Nintendo made a few load/power demand changes since firmware 2.0?
Maybe I'll consider putting mine back into standby mode. I used to just have it off with standby off (ie. Red light), it's an adjustment you can make in the main menu, it always kept it cool when it was off (since the chips aren't running). I always felt that the 24-hour heat damage was not worth the occasional message coming in.
well mine never got all that hot but it's possible that nintendo implemented this without us knowing.
Seems somewhat strange to be able to do with a firmware update...

but hey, I'm game if they did!
I always keep mine in stand by mode anyway.
Maybe less things were left "on"?
maybe they somehow lowered the amount of electricity the Standby mode can use, thus eliminating a lot of heat.
*Check Wii*
Mine feels about the same. Mine never got all too hot so I doubt I would feel a difference.
My Wii is never left on standby. Seriously, what the point? We hardly ever get an update and if there is I just find out on here then go connect and update. I hope in the future they send us cool stuff. Even if its just a letter telling us about up-coming games, it would be a reason to leave my Wii on standby.
I will be suprised if this recent update stops your Wii from getting hot.
yeah i dont see the point of standby... i was so pissed when i found out you cant put the damn thing on the red light thingy via the wiimote
^Theres a setting for the wii that makes it go to the red light (rather then standby) when you turn the system off.
I just checked mine and it seems a little cooler. I'm not worried about it overheating anyway. It is the least likely of my consoles to overheat and if it does it is the cheapest anyway.
Wow, I'd never noticed That It Isn't As Warm Now... Thanks!
yea when i would have mine on standby it would get warm but i just keep it off so it is safe

I'm the exact same way.
Maybe ill put it into standby mode and check the temp of it tomorrow morning, see if it is still cool. I guess this means though (if it is cool) then that wii temperature gage mod is useless
Nothing changed on mine, But i never really used a thermometer on it................
mine has never got 'hot', but yeah it may have been in the update, there seems to be alot of things people are noticing after the update that were'nt mentioned.
Same, It never seems to get "hot" maybe a little warm though. What are all the changes? Can anyone name them all? BTW I like the new sig Almo, I see you followed the tutorial perfectly!
I felt mine. There may have been a little difference. I remember when it was like really hot. This feels a bit cooler.
