According to Opposable Thumbs' reliable mole, many speculated points about Rock Band have been confirmed. First off, the source claims that the $199 bundle price is legit and that the package, in all, weighs in at a hefty 20 pounds. Plus, they add that the recent rumors that the PS3 package will come with a wireless guitar while the 360 will come with a wired guitar are true. The mole adds that the only undecided factor at this time is the box art.

Our mole recently gave us an early heads-up on the inclusion of HDMI ports on 360 Premium models, a "rumor" that came to pass within days. His new tips detail some information about what may be one of the biggest games of the holiday season: Rock Band.
There has been some speculation about the final price of Rock Band, and although there hasn't been an official announcement from EA or Harmonix, our source seems sure of the final price: $199.99 SRP for both the PlayStation 3 and 360 versions with the guitar, the drum set, and a microphone. All told, it's a gigantic 20 pound package, but the box art has still not been finalized.
Tipping the scales in favor of the PlayStation 3, our source confirms that as of now the standard $200 package will come with a wireless guitar for the PS3 and a wired guitar for the 360.
All this matches up with what we knew before, but it's more evidence that this will in fact be the final price. The inclusion of the wireless guitar in the PS3 package is nice to have. Since most retailers have the wireless guitar for the 360 listed at $80, the PS3 version may be the better deal if this information turns out to be accurate.

wow $199, is that for just the guitar and the game, or do more instruments come in the bundle??
No sir $199 gives you a mic, guitar, drumset, plus the game.
oooh alright i thought so, well i think thats still a little too rich for my blood, i mean if you save up a little more you can just get yourself a Wii

, but i guess if your really into these kinda games go right ahead and get it, and dont forget to invite me over to play drums

Well Angel honestly....I'd sell your mom for that drumset...it just looks so darn cool. From what I've heard thus far, the preorders for this game @ $199 are amazing.
i want this on 360 cuz i have more than 3 friends there

Well Angel honestly....I'd sell your mom for that drumset...
i think i just lost all the respect i had for you...
oh I'm just messin around. anyone who saw Rockband actually being played with the video I had posted on here knows it's gonna be awesome. Though I'd prefer the drums over the guitar and mic.
Honestly at this rate people should just buy starter instruments and form real bands.
Another thing I find funny is on other forum sites, people call the Wiimote a gimmick, however are all about rock band.
I wonder to myself how the Wiimote then to them is a gimmick but the Rock Band control set is not. Seeing as how you can only use the crazy expensive controllers for one franchise of games, logic would point those arrows in opposite directions... I guess I can't break into their mongoloidian mindsets...

it's a peripheral made specifically for a game or even a genre of games. you can use the GH2 guitar with RB. DDR uses the dance pad pretty much exclusively. with the wiimote, youre using that for every genre of games. it's like trying to shoehorn a niche feature into everything. that is a gimmick.
going back to the OP, $200 is pretty damn expensive. im not interested in the drums or mic. you can use the 360's headset as the mic too, btw. wireless or wired guitar, i dont care. i would prefer it wired just because that's less rechargeable batteries i'd have to worry about. do you think that because one has a wireless guitar, people will go out and buy a PS3 and the RB bundle?
only one guitar? what about bass? cant have a band without a bass.
I'm not sure if the guitar can double in game as base. I really kind of doubt it, but I'm sure future games will give you that option. Maybe we also need a Bluetooth harmonica too

so the game doesnt support a bass? is that what you are saying?

the same guitar can be used as a bass too. there' no need for another guitar that's gonna look identical with the possible exception of a longer fretboard.

what i'm asking is if you need to buy a second guitar controller as to have a bass and a guitar at the same time?
lol. good question. if the bundle only comes with one guitar, then yes, youre gonna need to buy another one... or use the one from GH2(or GH3, even).
yeah, but dont the guitars for rock band have more buttons?

It would be one thing if the pricetag weren't so steep. But here's their pitch "Spend 200+ dollars to buy our game and controllers to PRETEND you're in a band!" It's a joke and the biggest waste of money and resources I've probably ever seen. DDR is one thing, the dance pad doesn't cost more than a portable gaming unit. On a side note though DDR is lame IMO. I watch people play it like it's their job and feel bad for them that they lack a complete sense of rhythm that they require a video game to emulate something they don't have. I dunno I was never one to play games to live vicariously through fictional digitized information. I play to have fun and pass some spare time.
Back to my point now. The whole idea of a pseudo band setup for one game (I say one game because I am willing to bet no other publisher will EVER utilize these controllers) aside from Rock Band 2, 3, etc...it's nothing but a sad gimmick for people who have butchered minds courtesy of too much reality TV. I promise you guy that once people get bored with these games after a few years eBay is going to be overflowing with Rock Band, so much we'll be able to buy a set for $20.
You can argue that the Wiimote is a gimmick because you use it for every genre of games, however I'm sure people said the same thing when peoples 2600 controllers went from a joypad to an NES controller. A and B buttons plus a d-pad?! OMFG GIMMICK!
