A few days ago Activision has shown a chosen group of people a demo of the new Call of Duty game being developed by Treyarch. This title is slated for release in Fall of this year on the Wii, Xbox360, PS3, PS2, and Xbox but unlike previous installments in the series this Call of Duty is not going to be released onto the PC, at least not this year.
The setting of the new Call of Duty takes place during the Normandy Breakout campaign which would eventually lead to the freedom of Paris from the Axis side. According to Activision, the company producing the title, there will be four different playable armies that include the Americans, Canadians, Polish, and British. The game will span 14 campaigns which take place across 88 days starting from June 6th until Paris was liberated on August 25th, 1944.

The new Call of Duty showcases some spectacular explosion and smoke effects.
Now that the historical background is all said and done it's time to take a look at the games features and new additions. For one, the amazing sense of chaos and battle in the second Call of Duty is greatly enhanced in this one as 50 units run around on the screen at once charging at eachother amidst a flurry of explosions and gunfire. It's truly jawdropping. The games graphics are not to be underestimateed this time around. The sheer magnitude of detail found on everything is staggering. At one point in the demo you are placed in an armoured truck with other soldiers, the scared looks on their faces is more than convincing in portraying the emotional impact the war is having on every seperate character.

Notice the clothes actually bend realistically as the characters move.
Some of the neatest features are harder to notice from some newly implemented "cloth physics" which makes clothes act realistically and also "grass physics"; this allows grass to actually be trampled as a tank treas over it. Truly stunning attention to detail indeed. When buildings explode briks fly in all directions and large chunks of building fall to the ground resulting to a loud thud. Also, now there are no more dying animations you see again and again, this time around dead bodies act realistically. The dead corpses even float on water. some other topics were enemy AI which will be greatly increased so as to make the battle more hectic. Also, the battlegrounds will be much more destructive. If you think you are safe behind a stone wall, think again.
Treyarch has also decided to add many new features to multiplayer as well as building upon many other that were previously implemented. You can be one of numerous classes in multiplayer sessions, each with their own weapons and abilities. Some classes carry a weapon and grenades while others spend their time healing fallen comrades. These features add a compelling amount of teamwork into each match. Modes will include headquarters, war, a team deathmatch style game, and two capture the flag modes. These are welcome expansions to the series and shooting eachother with 13 friends online will be a great expierience.
Call of Duty 3 is coming out to be a beautiful and fun title. The developpers are being rather hush hush about how the wiimote will come into play with the game but they said they are implemented the same aiming controls like Metroid Prime: Corruption. So come this fall be sure to check into the next installment in the Call of Duty series as it arives to the Wii.
