I'm not sure if the same situation exists in the States (I'm in Canada), or anywhere else for that matter, but in the local Best Buy flyer this week I noticed something surprising.
The Xbox 360 Pro bundle is now selling for $400 CDN. This includes a wireless controller, a 20 GB hard drive, Forza Motorsport 2 ($70), and Viva Pinata ($20). So if we take away the two games, the bundle itself costs about $310. Meanwhile the Wii costs $290 with a remote and nunchuk, and a copy of Wii Sports. So basically $20 less for a similar bundle.
The graphics technology in the Xbox 360 is infinitely better than that of the Nintendo Wii, it comes with a 20GB hard drive compared to the Wii's measly 512 MB of RAM, and it has HD technology which of course the Wii does not. For $20 more. We've always been under the impression that the Wii is cheap when compared to the competition, but analyzing this begs the question: Are we paying more for the Nintendo Wii than it is actually worth?
(By the way I do realize that Nintendo has hit a price point that consumers are more than comfortable with given its rapid sales rate, however please understand that I am raising this issue based purely upon principle.)
People like flailing their arms around, therefore Wii > 360.
Also the three rings of death, $60 games, and pay-to-play online doesn't really seem like a "better deal" to me.
I just bought a 360 and i would have to say that yes it is much more worth it then the Wii. It has Live, HD, Giant Hard drive and so many features that it is so well worth it!
i would not buy that package due mainly to the fact that i have absolutely no interest in those games. if they came out w/ a similar package w/ oblivion and dead rising, then i might. i realize that is not the point you are trying to make, but i think i will wait to get a sexbox until there are more quality games out for it. it's one thing to have one console w/ few quality games out for it, but totally another to have two. so i'll prolly buy a 360 in 6 months or a yr. and due to the issue of buying games for two consoles, i'll most assuredly get a subscription to gamefly at that point.
yeah i think so i mean HD (i dont use) better graphics online play downloadable content demos movies on marketplace i think its fun

I'll buy a PS3 before a 360. Unless Microsoft can address these "red rings of death"
Until they do, the 360 isn't worth anything to me. I don't feel like buying a console that has a reputation for dying constantly and needing to be sent away.
lol PS3 aint worth a penny ask me

Same here PS3 > 360, the 360, just isn't worth it if it breaks down alot.
so PS3 aint worth it with crap games
so PS3 aint worth it with crap games
right now, but in mere months, i believe ps3 will have just as good games as 360, and will be the better console.
ill still play my 360 way more

id rather play halo 3 then killzone 2 any day

plus 360 dont give me problems just take care of yo systems and put in a ventilated area

so PS3 aint worth it with crap games

Not even close. Maybe in a few years.

why would you say a few years? i'd say in about 9 months or so, ps3 will be the better console. (IMO!!!!!)
towards halojames: I agree with u about halo 3 being better than killzone 2, but just wait, the ps3 games WILL get better. (exept for the fact that halo3 will rule all...)
i have all 3 consoles so im not gonna fight over any console just want an elite now

ha, tru dat. my bro has got an elite, they are as borat would say, "very nice!".
Both the wii and 360 are great systems. as long as those new heatsinks in the xbox 360 work you should not see the red ring and if you do you get a 3 year warranty on your xbox. and with the price now $350 usd for the premium i think the sales will rise a little more.

No, it means that MS is trying hard to maintain their sales lead over the Wii (which they know they cannot) and the PS3 (which they probably will).
There have been arguments about prices and values since the Wii and PS3's price were announced (penny arcade had a very funny comic about it), but forced games in bundles are not worth (to most) what they cost on the shelf, since many would not have purchased them otherwise (they only cost MS a few bucks to throw in, and make it seem like a better value). Point in fact, you did not subtract cost from the Wii's bundle for the copy of Wii Sports (which, in spite of it's simpleness, is a very popular games and sells outrageously well in areas that it does not come bundled).
Yes, the 360 has a HDD, Component Cables out of the box, and HD capability, but the Wii has WiFi built in (+$70 for the 360?), motion sensitive controls, free online play, and reliability.
It's basically looking at it like this... the 360 has been forced to drop the price AND bundle games in order to move units... The Wii sells out at it's original price point and bundle. Looking at these "facts", we can safely say that the Wii is a good value.
just get all consoles and be happy like me

just get all consoles and be happy like me

A PS3 isn't out of the question. I just can't think of a reason to spend so much on it right now.
