for those that didnt know, the demo is available on XBLM.

so i played the demo yesterday and today, and i gotta admit... i now see why people really liked this game for the PS2. this is definitely one of those games you have to play to understand. the demo is really short. it's a timed with only 3 minutes of gameplay. even with that, i played the demo today with my bro for a whole frickin hour! we kept trying to beat each other's score.

im kinda glad that they didnt change the art style of teh game. it's got a really different look to it that i haven't seen in any game. it intentionally uses very little polygons, but the colors and sharpness of them are just incredible. it's a very colorful game. the b/g music isnt too loud or intrusive where you start getting annoyed with it. the music is actually pretty cool. one of my favorite soundtracks is from the jet set radio series. BK's music isnt as crazy as that (there's only one song in the demo), but it's catchy.

i think this game hits on october for the 360 and PS3. this game wasnt even on my radar until i played the demo. now im positive im getting it on release. who'd have thought that rolling up crap could be this fun?

for any of you 360 users who happen to play the demo, post up your high scores. mine was 4.96.00.
funn game i played and played tried to keep outdoing myself i eventually capped at the high 5meters i wanted 6!! i even figured out the "perfect" route (lol i tried almost every route) butchershop -> farm -> road leading to the water -> water!!! -> Backup near the farm -> Barrells!!! -> Fence -> People!! -> More barrels -> then just go berserk every second counts becuase id always finish before something that would be nice to pick up.
I had the first to for the PS2 so this is gonna be and instant buy for me. And greaserlee said it well, you just have to play it to understand it.
The Katamari games are all top notch quirky entertainment. For anyone who hasn't yet experienced it, Beautiful Katamari is a must-buy. Smile
here's my impression of the full game:
*caution, i just copied/pasted my impression from another site where naughty words are a plenty.

****, i wrote too much. skip to cliffs.

well, since this is my first time playing a katamari game, im finding it pretty ****ing impressive. the game is a lot harder than the demo though. hehe their entire soundtrack is still in japanese. im so ****ing glad they didnt **** it up and add US-type tracks. the leaderboards and UI are quite creative. it's got a lot of little features that really seem pointless, like taking pics of whatever and placing them in an interactive photo album. i messed around with it just to see what it was about. out of everything, the leaderboards is what really caught my eye. im a bit of a stat whore and this **** really keeps track of all sorts of stuff. so far, JPN is on the top of all the goddamn leaderboards.

online is fun, but you really need to know how to move your katamari before you go in there and play against "pros" i kept getting my ass whooped and this one time i was winning, the host quit before time ran out. what a *****. so i started my own game and quickly got people to join me; 4-player max. had some connection issues/lag, but it hanldes it fairly i think. it basically freezes everyone until the connection is stable again. i guess it's similar to what halo does, with the blue-screen-of-wait miinus the blue screen. the options it has to look for a match are really simple, but it has all the important **** you would need. like searching for matches in your region, connection, type of match... i thought it was good enough for a basic online mode.

graphics are good. it basically looks like a very clean katamari. draw distances are good, tons of **** scattered around the place all the time, and it has a depth of field effect going on. helps show off the scale of you compared to the levels. i dont think i ever ran into any framerate issues.

game's fun, it's not even full price. i think it's $40. you really cant go wrong at that price. i dig it.

cliffs: game fun. rolling balls good. yum.
The stupid level where you have to roll up hot objects (Mars, I think?) is pissing me off. I keep bumping into a huge pile of something cold and instantly drop my temperature from thousands to 0 and have to start over! Grr! Toungue

But that's typical of Katamari games, there's always that one frustrating level. Like the one (I forget which Katamari game this was) where you had to roll a ball as big as possible (with some sort of minimum size you had to meet) without picking up anything that was a bear, is how I think it went. Or maybe it was that you HAD to get a bear, but only after you reached a certain size...? Anyway, I kept getting so pissed at that level because sometimes you would roll over something you didn't even realize would count as a bear, something not-so-obvious, and have to start all over. lol.

I'm glad they still have the Cousins and Presents. It's always fun to pick your favorite wacky-looking cousin and put quirky little "gifts" on them. Heh. So Jpn. ^^
