ok so i went to go rep suner52 right? and well i messed up so i went back and reped her again and low and behold the rep went through 2 times leaving my previous rep still there! then i wanted to see if i can do it a 3rd time and low and behold it let me?!?!?!
is that even remotely possible or do i have this special talent of repping everyone repeatively for no apparent reason?

We trust our members enough to let them rep the same person more then once a day. However, we trust that they will be repping for a good reason, not just for the sake of giving someone more rep.
Those who we catch abusing the rep system (trading rep, multi-repping for no reason, etc), will lose their ability to rep and perhaps also lose their own rep.

Anyway, we just figured that people rep people for something they've done, or something they liked about that person. This is a site that trusts everyone enough to make the right decision when it comes to repping. Nothing too complicated. :p

Anyway, benefit to Wiiloaded, that the system requires input of a comment. Doesn't really stop the popularity contest of (oh I like you, random rep for everything you do), but it does definitely keep rep under control where most helpful members get repped. People here seem infinitely more responsible when it comes to rep, than other forums, as well.

Of course, some people will try to cheat the system, and anyone caught outright doing so will be handled (we've had some in the past, and we dealt with it quietly, as always).
Of course, Rep is exactly that... reputation. Some people get reputation for being helpful, others for being likable. Either way, it shows new members that you have some sort of a "following", or are respected for one reason or another. It would cause us way too much trouble to try to regulate reputation so that only "helpful" members get rep, not to mention that reputation is given by members for members, so in a way, members generally moderate themselves by developing a community idea of why reputation should be handed out.
We could always instill a daily limit of reputations that a user can give if it really becomes a problem, but unless it really becomes a problem, there is no reason to stress over something like this!
