First of all, I'd like to apologized for the downtime to those of us (myself included) that could not access the site recently.

Due to an error outside of our control, our domain insisted on forwarding the majority of our visitors to our previous server instead of our current one.  Unfortunately, our (now former) registrar company was not very helpful in correcting this error, and thus, we moved the domain to a better, more reputable registrar in order to not only repair the errors, but minimize future downtime.  As transferring a domain is a lengthy process, and because we could not adjust any settings while the transfer is in progress, we were forced to wait it out.  Once the domain had completed the transfer, the previous error was corrected within minutes.

Although we had to go offline for a short time, this should greatly decrease any unforeseen downtime in the future.  Again we apologize for any inconveniences, and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
Inconvenience pshh NAH. It was boring when no one was on, but luckily i had been able to get on the whole time Smile

Looking good with the whole samus look Wink
Happy to see its back even though I've only just begun posting on these boards! w00t!
yeah, sunera, you're stinky. anybody that could get on is stinky. i'd been kicked off since monday afternoon/night last week T_T

its good to have WL back. i can finally regain some sense of normality in my schedule now.
finally! I was really scared wiiloaded would be gone for ever...
WOW FiNALLY!!!! I cant believe i survived being out of WL for 8 days!!!
Is there anyway in future if something like this did happen again that an automated email be sent out to all members, explaining the situation?
it was only 8 days? Woah... Felt like a decade...

i think the issue with that this time was that the account that sends out the emails is @wiiloaded.com. since the entire thing was down, the email system was also. that's why there was an email from joker this morning/afternoon explaining the situation and letting everyone know we're back in business.

When's the update going to come, anyways?
OMG..thanks for the miracle of WiiLoaded WiiTurning! I was having huge issues with not being on for such an eternity! If that ever happens again, I may need to find a physchiatrist! Coming home to find the site back on has make my week!!!!! I am happy to hear that we are using a new registar, the previous one's customer service department was obviously a load of crap!

Pretty soon. I would consider us to be in the Alpha version of it (myself and D4rk are already using it), and due/thanks to this downtime, we've had a good chunk of time to focus on it.

As for a way to send out an automated email, sure, there is probably a way (assuming the server is not down and the @wiiloaded.com email still works to some extent), but we had no idea that this outage would last so long, as this type of error is quite unprecedented from what I can tell. The two things that made it take so long is that our original registrar has horrible customer support, and after two days of getting nowhere with them, I initiated the transfer to a new registrar (one that has a solid customer service reputation). This process can take five or more days, due to the procedures that have to be followed between the registrars (ours transferred relatively quickly). The error was finally found by our original registrar 4 days after it began, but they could not make any changes (including corrections) to the domain while a transfer was pending. Thus, we were forced to wait until the entire transfer completed before we could correct the settings.

We have and are continuing to take all steps necessary (some drastic) to eliminate and minimize downtime. Though transferring this domain to a better registrar caused a longer period of downtime right now, it should greatly shorten any future unexpected and maintenance downtime. Many other precautions are being taken behind the scenes (a big reason the new theme rollout is still in progress, as it will implement some of them), so rest assured that this is not a common occurrence and that we are working hard to prevent anything remotely close to it from happening again.

its good to be back, I was starting to get lonely by myself since I am stuck in my bed pretty much all day Sad. Hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon. Speaking of which... we should have like a little other forum incase it does happen so we can all still communicate with eachother Big Grin

And LemonManX is using it also.

And Cpt.McCloud is wishing he is using it also.

This thread as turned into the wiiload thread.

So can we give all the 'namedroppers' a cute little blue slip like the nice little policeman (not TLC, of course) gives us when we try that!
Finally : D
