Hey guys, as you know, Metroid Prime 3 contains an achievement type system that allows players to collect tokens and trade them in for bonus content.  I'd like to keep a running list of questions and answers regarding this, so feel free to submit a question or provide an answer in the thread below.

1.  What are tokens?

Tokens are collected throughout normal play of Metroid Prime 3, and can be exchanged for bonus content.  They are found in four colors: red, blue, gold, green.

2.  How do I earn red tokens?

Red tokens are collected from scanning enemies and items, so make use of your scan visor.  Do not be surprised if you collect a lot of these compared to the other colors.

3.  How do I earn blue tokens?

Blue tokens are collected by scanning lore.  Looks for signs of a civilization that has been left behind, and scan it to get some information about their history.  Not only is it interesting, but it gives you the backstory and shows how detailed the Metroid Prime series is.

4.  How do I earn gold tokens?

These are earned from defeating bosses throughout the game.  They will be scarce early in the game, but you might be surprised at how quickly they start to accumulate later in the game.  Some "bosses" are not actually bosses, but rather unusually colored normal enemies that are difficult to come across.  These enemies will usually drop a gold token (as opposed to you just earning it), just like they drop other powerups.

5.  How do I earn green tokens?

Green tokens are quite special, as you cannot really collect them.  Instead, you must receive them from other Metroid Prime 3 players.  Enable WiiConnect24 on your system, and browse through your friend list.  Friends with Metroid Prime 3 are shown in black.  These are the players that you can send friend vouchers and receive green tokens from.

6.  How do I earn friend vouchers (green tokens to give away)?

These unspendable green token vouchers are collected by completing certain challenges.  Here is a list of known ways to collect green token vouchers:

Every 100 enemies killed, until 1000
So far, we know that you collect one every time you kill an increment of 100 enemies, until 1000 kills.  If you need a token, simply find a hole that breeds those small near-harmless creatures and shoot away.

Juggle a training droid 20 times

Shoot the emergency door button to save the trooper in the Olympus

Find the shortcut (Gel Cave) in Norion

Make a Reptilicus kill himself (freeze him after the boomerang is throw and it will come back and kill him)

In North Jungle Court, Pull 3 Switches without a Pirate resetting any of them.

Discover Bryyo Ice (in the Bryyo Fire Area)

Drop the bridge with Steambots on it (run past them without killing them) for a stylish kill

Use your boost ball to kill a group of bots (bowling for bots)

Use your grapple to pull a jetpack off of a pirate

Take down a Phazon Harvester Drone (and again on vetern)

Kill 20 Commandos

Shoot the blue organ thing repeatedly above the Leviathan Terminal

Use Key Pad in Valhalla (requires at least 9 of the 10 cells I believe, but you might as well get all 10 if you want 100% completion)

7.  What can I purchase with tokens?

*In parathesis is the cost in tokens. (4R, 3B, 2Y, 1G) means 4 Red Tokens, 3 Blue Tokens, 2 Yellow/Gold tokens, and 1 Green token.

i still dont quite understand the voucher thing, but ill figure it out
Man, that kind of sucks. So to unlock everything you have to have people send you friend vouchers...
Yes, you usually exchange vouchers. In other words, you collect vouchers in the game, but you cannot use them for yourself. Instead, you have to send them to people, who can then use them. Those people can send the vouchers they collected back to you. Most of the extras do not require the green tokens, but the more creative ones do (screenshot tool, mii bobblehead, ship bumperstickers, etc)
I was wondering about the whole voucher thing myself. I was wondering, "Where are the green tokens...?" But now that makes sense. I guess I need more people on my friends list. Toungue
i get it all except when you get um you can turn um into tokens or keep um vouchers wtf does that mean?

Errr.. it means "you can turn um into tokens or keep um vouchers"

In other words, when someone sends you a voucher, it can be turned into a token (for personal use) or kept as a voucher (to send to someone else).

Alright guys, that's the first big update, but more to come soon.

Freeze him with missles right after he throws the boomerang, and it comes back at him and kills him.

Can I get 1 green token from a person on my list, and then have them send me another to get a 2nd or does it have to be another person. I've gotten 1 green from kindrik, but I need another.
You can send as many as you like to one person. Man, I would send you some but I am all out, and I really don't know how to get anymore unless you get one for 4000 kills, I have about 3800 right now
Joker, we need more mp3 updates d:

I want to download those other songs from the game... unless someone has ripped the complete soundtrack... *goes hunting*
