IGN.com recently reported on an easter egg they stumbled across while playing through Metroid Prime 3. Supposedly, somewhere mid-game is a computer panel that when scanned reads:
Experiment status report update: Metroid project ‘Dread’ is nearing the final stages of completion.
This message could be hinting at a DS title that was tentatively announced by Nintendo back in 2005 named Metroid Dread. There has never been an official, public announcement for the title other than a list of future DS titles given exclusively to the media in 2005. Many people have speculated that Dread is supposed to be a brand new side-scrolling Metroid title for the DS.
Obviously, there is no way for us to know at this point if the message is accurate, but it can fuel some interesting speculation. What do you guys think? Is this info worth getting excited for, or is this all just some cruel prank pulled by the Retro writing staff?

Well, there were other games on the list with Metroid Dread that came to exist. Super Princess Peach was one of those games.
Metroid Dread isn't as farfetched as it seems and I have my fingers crossed. I'm craving more 2D Metroid action.
I doubt it would be in the game just to get us excited and not actually give us it. I can see Metroid Dread actually being released.
It could only be paying homage to the rumour though, which isn't impossible. But it also isn't likely, Retro is taking a break from Metroid allowing Nintendo a chance to continue the franchise with an awesome 2D side scroller for the fast-selling DS.

Even if it was fake, this log book scan (Which I just watched the video for) proves that there will be a future game revolving around a Project: Dread. Dread was probably just a codename for the game.
I sure hope so, I actually liked Hunters. And I'm loving Corruption.

Possibly Nintendo meant that literally THEY weren't making it, they were having some other company work on it or something. :shifty:
Well, it could always be a cover up. Nintendo might not want us to know this early if the game is only just coming together now.
But at the moment its probably safer to assume that they aren't making the game... that way we won't be disappointed when Samus' next outing is 3D.
But I miss the 2D Color/Advance games. D: One on the DS would be incredible.
I know, so do I. I'm really hoping Nintendo keep Samus' classic roots alive. I mean they did it for Mario in "New Super Mario Bros." And similar in a way for Zelda in Phantom Hourglass with the classic Zelda view.

Still doubt that. They wouldn't doubt the game at this stage then release it in a few months... unless they are being *that* secretive. I wouldn't expect another Metroid game til next year sometime.
