In the 38 weeks that the Wii has (or hasn't) been available on store shelves in the UK, Nintendo's tiny powerhouse has managed to sell over 1 million, becoming the fastest selling console the UK has ever seen. This all before the release of big name titles such as Metroid, Mario, and Smash Bros.
1 million in the UK alone means that even more Wiis have been sold in the other PAL territories. It took the PlayStation 2 50 weeks to hit 1 million in the UK, while the 360 hit the mark after 60 weeks on the market.

nah everyone i know laughs in the face of a PS3. Someone in my year is adamant that it has rumble features... i tried my best to convince him otherwise

I agree, if Nintendo wake up and notice that Wii actually sells outside Japan and America then they might actually give us games without the extra months waiting for them.
I'm thinking the Wii will stay #1 for years to come unless something really groundbreaking comes along.

I heard rumors that Nitnendo had actually diverted some of it's Japanese shipments to North America to satisfy demand.
uh oh.. with these rumored diversions and lack of PAL-ness sounds like nintendo is turning into a nsty company more about the money thasn the games... their downfall will teach them... yesss.... their downfall....

I havn't checked or asked around about Wiis since I got mine. I may do it again just out of curiosity.
about 10 days ago I was at eb games, buying a wii points card, and they were sold out
i was in GAME yesterday and they were sold out of wii's :/ and when mario strikers came out all the nunchuks sold in about a day

I'm actually not surprised, considering they hardly have anything to play, compared to what we have, it sounds about right. They're not even getting Brawl this year.
Actually, this means that they sold a wii every 2.6 minutes......
