and even then most developers just put black bars where the extra lines are and then slow the whole game down (or if they're half-decent programmers, just put a different VSync).
They usually blame it on translations (because EU releases have at least 6 other languages usually)
Yeah, but the EU launch is always the same date.
I still don't get why Australia has to wait though :/
*isn't sure*
Nintendo is holding it back this time, its the only reason I can see. Because I doubt very much they've had to cut back staff considering how much money the Wii is making for them.
The main difference is between colour decoding and the size of the picture.
PAL has better colour and a higher resolution than NTSC (Which is why older American sitcoms look like shit on PAL TVs)
TBH changing to NTSC now would be pointless, worldwide HDTV is just round the corner.

Alright, so here we have the number of Wii's sold. That sure is a lot of Wii's sold isn't it? Of course it is, that's not what we're here to talk about though. Let's take a closer look now.

Now, see the 2 figures insquared in Black that's North America and Japans figures alone. Which equal up to 7.92 Million of the 10.91 Million sold. Now let's take a look at this one last figure.

Now, only 3 Million Wii's have been sold in 'Other' regions. This is EVERYWHERE else. That's U.K, Australia, all of Europe, everywhere! Now, let's look at this from a business stand point.
The NTSC regions are racking in 7.92 Million Wii's, let alone all the games they're buying for their Wiis. Then Nintendo looks at the PAL regions which aren't even all of those 3 Million Wii's and the notice something, they aren't selling as much their.
So when it all comes down to the grand scheme of things, Nintendo is going to see that their main target and grandest audience is the NTSC regions as they can make more money from them. They're a corporation fellas, it's about money. You can't succeed without the proper fundings and the right amount of money.
Now your probably going to reply to this and say: "Ya but we can't buy them, it's too expensive here! Yeah! and we don't get them on time!". Then alright, go talk to them, but don't blame them for everything at first. Raise a petition or something to have prices lowered and move on from there. If that happens then hey, maybe more people will buy the Wii and games in those other regions and Nintendo will turn their heads and see that PAL's there too. But if you come on too strong at first, what if Nintendo ditches you? That would suck WAY more.
So there's my thoughts on the matter, I think it really sucks (the situation your in now) but these are the facts that I see.

Now I would just like you to consider that America is a large country and does have a big fan base for gaming and such.
Does the UK have any major gaming events or anything? nope.
And yes as you mentioned there is the price but lots of american items are cheaper. Lets just be happy the pound has power over the dollar.
I'd go for a 360 or a PS3 in an instant.
Unforunately I jumped the gun and bought a Wii before they became worth their money in the PAL regions.
It wouldn't hurt for Nintendo to be as on the ball as third parties, but hey... I guess they enjoy being hated in PAL. Except for their rabid fanboys.
@ Alex, yes, I will say that.
It's BECAUSE of their lack of caring (or insert other appropriate word) that it's not selling as well.Wait....W(hy)TF am I defending PAL? LMFAO
