This has happened in all the Prime games and hasn't been fixed. Ever shoot a door, and it doesn't open, and you have to walk around aimlessly back and forth until it opens?
Its the game loading. Cut it some slack, its better than having to stare at a loading screen for 10 seconds.
Doors opening = game loading
Elevators that take you from area to area = game loading
Oh, ok. Sorry, I didn't know that. That was a quicker answer than I expected. You can lox this if you like.
Haha, its all good man. I remember being frustrated about it at first too until I looked into it.
Made me appreciate it more.
*lox'd*
Actually, I wanted to unlox it so we could discuss this. I've read a lot of places that claim this can take as long as 20 seconds. Don't get me wrong, I had plenty of times where I was waiting patiently for the door to open (usually because I ran to it, shot it, backed up against it and tried to fight off enemies until the door would open and I could escape), but I never experienced a 20 second wait time. That's kinda outrageous. I would say the worst was maybe 10 seconds, but those 5 second doors were more common than I had hoped (actually, there were few of them, but in going in and out of the same places, running from the enemies each time, you kinda knew a few that would take longer than average to open). I know 5 seconds isn't just a whole lot, but it is annoying enough to notice. I will agree 100% though, that it is much better than a loading screen. One reason I continue to support Nintendo is their efforts to reduce and mask loading time in the majority of their systems and games.
@LMX, no (giant) elevators in MP3. You fly your ship to different places (along with pretty ship flying around cut scenes) and use local transit systems (different types on each planet)
it does take a while though for some doors. but i understand
Wow, 20 seconds? That's just downright insane! I've had doors where I've waited 5, occassionally 10 seconds, but 20? Wow!
I'm going to miss those giant elevators and such. Curse you, MP3! MPH used the ship and planets and look how that turned out!!
I noticed that some doors would open faster than others. Did anyone else see this? Like i think that the fastest doors were the ones on Phaaze. I never really had to many problems with them. The worst were some of the Bryyo ones.
Lol, good thing I don't play Metroid, I'd find that annoying. It is an effort to disguise the loading screen but how about getting rid of them? I'd much rather have no loading at all.
Bad thing you don't play them, you're missing out on all the other good stuff. At least, IMO.
Ricky is missing out. But its his loss.
I'm not a bug fan of shooters, that's why I've never played. Nothing against Metroid, and by me not liking shooters, I'm sure I'm not missing much.

So would I, but when Nintendo rolled out their N64, people disagreed and chose to go with the PS1 instead. The 64 had NO loading time at all, and the PS1 had pretty extensive loading time, but people love their optical media.

:gasp: LMX, do you want to, or should I?
Lol does she, or does she not, shoot the whole time? I consider it a shooter.
Yes, she shoots. But the game also emphasises exploration as well.
But hey Ricky, if you want to be close minded and just write this game off as a "ZOMFGSHOOTERGAME" then that's your own mistake.
People who look into it will discover exploration will find out its a First Person Adventure, with Shooter elements.
Dang, I just said I thought it was a shooter no reason to get all pms'y. To me, it looks like it tries to blend shooting and exploration. Half of the credit should go to shooting because that's how you beat the game/kill enemies, so if half goes to shooting I think somewhere in Metroid's category thing, should be the word "shooter". Maybe I'm not the one that's close-minded?
The side scrollers utilised shooting to defeat enemies. Are they shooter games?
First Person Adventure/Shooter. Sounds good to me.
Oh, and "very" witty pms call, Rick. Expected more.
We done arguing, kiddies?
oh, good.
anyway, back on topic, I had always wondered about those doors, didn't realize it was load time... I was just playing MP1 today (in prep to get MP3) and found myself irritated by the doors. much better than load screens, though, and I won't take them for granted when I play MP3.
and YAY! my girlfriend bought me MP3 today as a surprise cause I've had a rough couple of weeks dealing with my college

so excited to get started tomorrow!
I think the longest i've had to wait is only about 5 seconds, I don't know where that guy got 20 seconds from, most likely exxagerating. It is kinda annoying though when you want to go through a door to avoid enemies, but then you gotta wait a bit and they start shooting you and you have to take the damage or just fire back
