Upon surfing the Smash Blogs over at Smashboards I stumbled upon this most interesting discussion as to whether the box art for one of the most anticipated Wii games has been leaked.

Now I'm aware people *will* be skeptical about the authenticity of this art mostly due to the fact that its only posted on an online retailer. Obviously we can't expect every character to appear on the cover, but the lack of the likes of Bowser and DK is very strange.

If this box art does end up being fake I must agree with KK over at Smashboards when he says he wants to meet the person who made it. Because the art used for this leaked cover is different to anything we've seen and if its fan art then its an incredible job on the designers behalf.

This is a less blurry version of the pic provided by God Link over at Smashboards.

So what do you guys think so far?
I agree i think it is really good. This is the first one that i am actually thinking might be real. If not then I also want to meet the person that made it and just let them know how good they are.
At the very worst it could be an early preliminary design (note the "RP" and no "WiFi" logo)

But it would give us an idea of what to expect from the final art when they reveal it.
The main thing drawing me away is the fact that it's only characters that haven been confirmed so far. Plus the background is a little lame.
That is one awesome box art. But something tells me this is definitly fake. I hope the final boxart is similar to this.
If this is fake, then it is without a doubt one of the most professional fakes I've ever seen.
i totally agree. whoever made this boxart (if it's fake) is very good.

i see what your saying, but thats circumstancial.

anyways i think this box art real or fake is really good. i just dont like pokemon trainer on the left. imo that should have been DK like Lemon mention.

Ya, DK and Yoshi both deserve a spot on there.
Here's my problem with it:

You can tell that Link and Pikachu have been painted (Very well, actually) in photoshop, and that they are not actual models. I'm not sure about Mario, but it could be the same thing.

The only ones that I can tell actually are models (Metaknight, Pit, Fox, Wario) are all in poses that we've seen in screenshots, thus leading to the assumption that they were cut out from the screenshots.

I'm not too sure about Samus, Peach, or Pokemon Trainer.

Kirby, however, is too small for where he is in that image. They're increased Kirby's size considerably in Brawl, and he should be bigger than that.

It's no doubt that whoever made that has some Photoshop talent, but it's fake.
Alot of of your points i agree with but couldnt Kirby just be smaller because he is farther back?

Those are good points and I can see what yu're talking baout. It's still a great mock up. Maybe for the real one they would want to focus more on the new characters than the old ones like this.

can you show pics of where we've seen the character models before, that you said were cut and paste?

I don't want to scroll through the hundreds of brawl screenshots to find them. They just look familiar.
Simply amazing. If it isn't the true box art, I too would like to congratulate the person who made this fine work of art. However, it stuns me as well that they would leave out characters such as DK, Bowser, Zelda, and Yoshi, or at least some of the better known characters.
I assume the final box art will have the little side panels for starting characters on the cover just like the SSBM cover.
If so I would like that. It may not be creative but i think its cool.
Yeah , I like seeing the whole cast.
I don't think that is the actual boxart, because if I remember right, they slightly altered the SSBB Logo, and the one on that boxart is the old version.  I'll try to find the new one hold on

If I was told correctly, the bottom one is the new version
I would really enjoy box-art like this over the crappy (and obvious) shoops thrown around as of late. But why does it have to be on a site that I HATE because it's navigation is poor?

A few color changes, but they're completely alike otherwise.
