I think D4rk's excitement got the better of him cause I only read a 16gb model, not a 160gb one. This is a cool idea, and mean I'm sure we all thought that the Iphone's way of handling music was cool, so why not add that feature plus it's ability to watch movies on the new Ipod.

The question now is, why buy an Iphone???

No, I don't. It looks too much like an iPhone. It seems that when you make enough money, and enough people are willing to consistently buy your product, effort is no longer necessary.

I have been saying this all along, but in all fairness, it's not just iPods, it's Apple products in general. As a qualifier, I'll also note that if you are stupid, have money, and like to be babied with your electronics, told what you need, and appear to be hip only to be though of a sheep incapable of real technical savvy, then Apple is the perfect company to buy products from.

In other words, if you like to be told what you need and you enjoy a nice form factor and UI and you have no idea how limited or overpriced this stuff really is, and you don't want to know, then feel free to just ignore me and keep on keeping on.

I like iPods for 5 main reasons.


- Capacity. Nothing on the market can touch it (160GB for the iPod Classic, plus my 80GB is full)
- Size. They are tiny when you take into account some laptops don't have that much storage.
- Price. £229 is not much money at all.
- Compatibility. Look at all the "Just-Plug-In-Your-iPod" Accessories around.
- iPod Linux. When all else fails, I can just boot a Linux kernel instead.


The main issue I have with it is the nasty headphones that come with it. They get replaced by my Senheissers

Most nontech people I know (theres a few) didnt even know that the iPod is just a mP3 player (quote my noobish nepthew "My mums geting me a iPod so I can listen to music" me "But you dont have any MP3s or CDs that can be MP3ed" Him "What I need music to put on it ?")

There are loads of cheaper allturnatives (I currently use a 1 gig/DAB radio that was £50 from Argos - The place with the lamanated book of dreams)
