Do you think MP3C moved up from a FPA to more of a FPS?
Also, this was a big improvement from MP2E/P1 in movement and controls as well?
Retro did state that MP1/MP2E they could just have enemies rushing you at once it would be too much for the player to handle all at once. Whereas, in MP3C you have alot of control over who to shoot and be able to switch from one target to another right on the fly.
Personally, like I've said numerous times before, MP3C will take FPA/FPS games on a whole new level for consoles. PC FPS have been doing this for awhile but not on this level of control. PC FPS were superior to console FPS [even Halo] in terms of controls, even PC FPS's had their gripes, but I can honestly sa that MP3C's controls are the best I've ever played.
Well technically there really is no such thing as a "FPA"... the name was only made up to make metroid fans happy that metroid is the best FPA game, since Halo is the best FPS.
I have never played MP1 or 2, but I guessing by how fun the controls are I would say that they would just have to be better than 1 and 2.
But seriously, now that they have the controls down, the only thing I would expect in upcoming FPS games is better and better graphics. Like you compared it to the PC, PC FPS games got the controls down, and the major improvements they are making is better graphics. But I just don't knwo how much better graphics the Wii will be able to give
Halo is far from the best FPS. Its the best CONSOLE FPS. But not best in the genre. God damn overhyped game.
I consider it an FPA, because its about adventuring and exploring various areas. Sure, there is shooting and from what I've heard the hints come faster (ie. like mission objectives) which takes it closer to the Shooter genre.
But the adventure elements (I'm hoping) are still strong, otherwise MP1 > MP3.
Adventure > Shooter.
Well there is alot of exploring and walking around/searching for items and places in the game, if it makes you feel any better. But comparing it to games like battlefield 2, it is no where near that type of FPS

QFT. I'm waiting to decide this until I've played through it in its entirety.
my personal believe is that the Metroid Prime series could be considered like playing the Legend of Zelda behind Link's eyes. It's not really an FPS because all you do in an FPS is shoot. Metroid Prime 3 is much deeper than that.
I was wondering just because, Retro said it themselves in a EMG mag, that in the prior installments on the Prime series, they could have theclose to a FPS due to the controls and limited range of motion and control the user have. Wheras in MP3C the player can easily aim and free aim on and off enemies without any trouble more towards a FPS.
So I feel that MP3C is now a higher standard FPS. Hopefully when Retro get back on the Metroid gravy train; you'll see more of this style.
So the Wii'control can infulence the genre of a video game?!
interesting indeed.
It is a First Person Adventure game with shooting elements incorporated into its gameplay.
After coming from Battlefield 2142 i can definately tell you that MP3 is definately not an FPS. There is too much explorering and missions, gathering items and such, so this game is definately an FPA in my eyes.
That just the single player campaigne
Lets say that MP3C just so happened to have Multiplayer.
Will be considered then a FPS.

Thats a very good question, i still think i'd think of it as being an fpa for the most part, but obviously the multiplayer would be fps, but i honestly they would classify it from the singleplayer mainly, but thats just my guess.
I will prove why I think MP3 has stepped from FPA to FPS just a second....

So many people love to say that MP3C isn't a FPS. Its a FPA. Granted I used to do the very same doing its run on the GCN. But after playing both MP3C and Halo 3 you can feel a difference in both games strengths and weaknesses. Assuming that all of read some knd of review or just glanced at the score, both games were rated pretty high [except for gamespot... i hate them still for LOZTP and MP3C scores.] I most say that MP3C could change the way we play future FPS's on the Wii.
Ok. The game isn't God. Or even close to Chuck Norris. But, it's pretty flawless in controls. It felt natural. I didn't feel car sick [while playing] and taking on hordes of enemies at once didn't feel so restraint on with the Wii Controls. Most of all, it felt like a FPS. Yeah, most people say that FPS's are run and gun. WRONG. Look at previous games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, they had some pretty good objectives that didn't require you to go to Point A and destroy it... then travel to Point B and do the same.
I think that future Wii and possible other games will look at MP3C as the blueprint, from that blueprint more and more games will imitate and possible improve on the genre itself.
THIS IS WHAT GAMING SHOULD BE DOING!
evolving like pokemon.
This is what great games are supposed to do, influence other games/developers, to make better games.
MP3C = Most influencial game of the year
