SAN JOSE, Calif. (Sept. 6) - Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs apologized and offered $100 credits Thursday to customers who shelled out $599 for the most advanced model of the iPhone, only to have the company unexpectedly slash the price $200 in a push to boost holiday sales.

I can understand the people's rage. Could you imagine what would have happened if Jobs took no action? It wouldn't be pretty.
That's capitalism. I think it's good he even gave a refund. $400 is actually a nice price, when my plan ends next year, I still will switch to Verizon, because the lack of 3G ruins everything that's good about the iPhone. $600 was overpriced from the get go.
Yup, great idea on his part. I too believe the price was very extensive.

There is more than the lack of 3G, but yes, that is the most unacceptable lack of a feature for me. That being said, I've moved out of my 3G area, and I really, really miss it. EDGE just doesn't compare. That, and the Blackjack doesn't get great reception in rural areas, so it just sucks to be me. It was most definitely aimed for larger markets, and now that I'm in an area where the largest city has 35,000 people, I'm shopping around for a comparable phone that gets better 850mhz reception Sad

I'm glad I've held out for as long as I have. Even though the iPOD has not "officially" been launched over here, it is available for a ridiculous price much higher than the already ridiculous price. My friend just got one here and he's gonna be pissed when he sees that the price has dropped this much. Since he got it from here where it's not "official" he's screwed.
if jobs didnt take any action, hed have iphones being rammed up his @$$.

100$ is better than nothing i suppose
