Now to begin.

As far as I can see, you need to make sure that your TV/Monitor will take an RGB signal, because otherwise you're going to need to buy an actual decoder/encoder.

Make your own once: http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/vgacable.html
not so cheap american one: http://store.a2zcable.com/vchdc-6.html

Basically, it's hit and miss. But you're going to need to set it up as follows.

.....................|---------> AV Reciever
Wii -> Wii Component Cables -> RCA Female-in-Female-out Adapter -> Component to DSUB -> (DSUB to DVI) -> TV/Monitor/Projector
The cheap UK cables will omit the Female/Female adapter.

Also, why do you need a dsub to dvi plug?  From the pictures, it looks like a component to VGA plug, as the standard dsub plus that resembles VGA only has two rows of pins.  Most monitors will accept VGA, but you could get a VGA -> DVI plug (which are quite common, I probably have half a dozen in my closet) if your monitor didn't have VGA.

EDIT: I suppose a VGA plug could be referred to as a DE-15 but I've just never heard anyone use that term for it here. Usually dsub, on the rare occasions that someone uses that term, is referring to other types of cables, since VGA is common enough on it's own to have a unique name.
here is a third party Wii VGA cable that would let you hooking the Wii to monitor, check it http://www.vdigi.com
Nice find dude!

Component Cables:

Currently, this is what my wii setup is:

I use these cables:

With these jacks:

So my question is, how much better picture would I get using these cables:

With these jacks:

VGA Connection

Would I be able to hook up these cables:

With this port on the back of my laptop (to play my Wii using my laptop screen):

(keep in mind there is no place to hook up those red and white cords to)

That female VGA on your laptop is an output.

On a slightly related note, I have the component cables and the colors are much more vivid, no doubt about it. The internet channel (all channels really) are much clearer.

I have noticed though, in a few games, wii sports, fifa08, etc. That the characters are a bit more jagged around the edges. Annoyingly so.

I'm running a 55in 16.9 hdtv. I think that may have some to do with it. Overall I still use enhanced over standard, as sharper menu channels, and vivid colors have outweighed the jagged edges of some things.

Just checking to see if it is just me. Likely could be.
