Boss of Square Enix tells Sony to sort its marketing strategies out.
UK, September 7, 2007- Is it a super computer? Is it a Blu-ray player? No, it's a videogames console! PlayStation 3's schizophrenic marketing has come under scrutiny and the boss of Square Enix reckons Sony needs to sort it out.
According to Reuters, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada told a gathering of reporters in Tokyo that the future of PS3 "would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up".
His concern originated from what he sees as an inconsistent marketing strategy for the console. He said: "Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine." Bets are now being taken as to what the PS3 will be marketed as next...

Square is one of my main reasons for a pS3.
Square have already said that the next final fantasy won't be a sony exclusive.

I was eying FF..but I just dunno anymore.
Who is square enix to talk, they make video games , they're sometimes a movie studio, and other times a manga company. I don't recall them making FF 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2 for any other system then the Playstation 1 & 2.
I guess they forget where their bread and butter came from, while also forgetting that their market strategy is extremely diverse. Does anyone recall a flop called Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which ended up LOOSING $123,000,000. That's $123 million, and on 1 project.
Where did they confirm the next FF not being Sony exsclusive? I have seen no such evidence.
as of march there has been "discussion" about the very high price of FF 13, but I have not seen any article that says it will not remain exclusive (at least none that I can remember).

So its only FF-XIII under discussion? Well that doesn't really matter to me, since I'm more interested in Versus XIII anyway.

I'm not sure when FF13 is suppose to be released, but I think Square Enix is very afraid that if the PS3 doesn't pick up in sales, then the **** load of cash they've spent making FF13 is gonna hit them hard.
I suspect that by the time FF13 comes out, there will be more then enough people willing to buy it on PS3 to not bankrupt Square Enix

I agree, Square fanboys don't care about their money that much. And they would gladly buy a PS3 for FF-XIII.

I'm embarrassed to admit I would buy a ps3 for the next set of Final Fantasy games. I could have sworn I read somewhere not long ago that FFXIII was to be a ps3 ONLY game.
back in the day Final Fantasy games were the ****....and I'm talking the big ****, but now there are so many high quality games being released that I think Square Enix is feeling the pinch. So what do they do...they do whatever they can to stir buzz and get their name in the papers and online. I wouldn't trust much of what they say. Will there be some for of FF13 for other systems, yeah probably, but they're making a couple of games based on 13 so don't be fooled when you hear people talk about how FF13 is no longer a PS3 exclusive. There's an exclusive in their some place, but honestly there's no reason why our 360 brotheren can't take part in something. As for the Wii boys and girls...they can have an updated Crystal Chronicals and pretend that their not miffed.

Square needs to give Final Fantasy a rest for a few years...like lets say a good 5 years or so and go back to some other franchises...Chrono Trigger maybe? Let's see Chrono Break finally for godsakes...
I used to love the FF series back when I first played FF1 on my NES back in 1990...When I played FFIX I thought the story was Ok, but gameplay was weak and WAY too easy...Then FFX, that game just blew...ok the graphics were pretty but linear gameplay along with it being insanely easy made me want to throw up...
I won't touch another FF until they put out something utterly amazing, or another DS remake..
I would say they would give it a rest, but people still buy them, because they sell like hot cakes, so if its only you that don't want to buy them, meh. There still quality games.
They are declining in the eyes of everyone but FF fanboys methinks.
All I can say is I wish sony would stop makeing different GB PS3's.
