I've never played any smash bro game, and I was wanting to at least play melee once before getting brawl, so I figured I would just rent it to see what its like. But is it fun by yourself? or does it suck when you aren't playing with other people

I practice by myself. Not as fun as playing with other people.

Like Ronin I practice by myself, but generally SSBM sucks when its just you. It is a multiplayer game after all.

well if you've never played then it'll be fun playing Single Player and unlocking the characters and playing the Event Matches, Break the Targets and all that stuff. Then when Brawl comes out, play others online.

melee is MUCH better with other people. but i still practice against comps every now and then. not as fun without other people though

The CPU's are incredibly bad in SSBM.
I like the events and sandbags. And I'm the only one I know who actually likes target tests. lol

I didn't really enjoy the Target Tests more than once. There were some fun events, but once I finished it all... that was it. I had no temptation to go back and play through it again.
i stopped target tests and 1P after i unlocked everything, hopefully the same wont be as true for Brawl.

even if it is true you can always play online
