A listen to the latest episode of the 1UP Yours podcast reveals that the rumbling DualShock 3 is "confirmed," at least according to 1UP's lead Sony fanboy, Shane. He says that TGS will ultimately reveal the long-awaited rumbling controllers and the now-legendary 2.0 firmware, which will magically allow you to run many XMB tools from within a game. We're sure Sony's going to playing hardball at TGS, and you'll probably want to tune into our continuing coverage of the event, starting this Wednesday.

TGS 2007: Rumble Confirmed
Sony's controllers will shake again.
September 19, 2007 - Big shocker at today's Electronic Arts pre Tokyo Game Show press event. While playing a demo of Burnout Paradise, we felt something that we never thought we'd feel from a PS3 controller -- shake!
That's right, Burnout Paradise is the first rumble-equipped PS3 game we've ever played. Which made us think at the time, if the game is making the controller shake, the controller must be a new version of the Sixaxis!
In fact, the controller we were using to play the demo looked exactly like a standard Sixaxis, except that it had a sticker on the bottom that said "RUMBLE." It also felt notably heavier than the standard Sixaxis.
We presume this is a prototype of the PlayStation 3's new rumble controller, whatever it's going to be called.
The rumble itself felt around the level of PlayStation 2 rumble. We're not sure just yet if Sony is using any of that next generation technology Immersion has been talking about for the past few months.
A formal announcement is expected tomorrow at Kaz Hirai's keynote address.
As for the rest of the EA event, as well as details from today's Sony and Konami events, check back at IGNPS3 through the night.

good find Angel I read about that this morning. I think the thing that's good for me isn't the rumble feature, but the fact that the DualShock3 controller feels a bit heavier and thus by American standards seems better then a lighter one we're use to now.
i just hope that the new DualShock3 contorls are the same price as the current ones...
hmm that is a very good question, but I'd HOPE that Sony wouldn't raise the price, because as was mentioned in the articles, rumble technology isn't that expensive (unless created with unicorn hair).
you know its funny, i read this somewhere where it said that Sony had 'overcome the difficulties with motion control+rumble'. that's just a technical way of saying 'we've patched things up and can go with our original plan of releasing a rumble controller like everyone else'.
but this is good news and makes me want to buy a PS3 even more now...
Good to hear its finally confirmed.
Although it makes me lol at previous statements saying "Rumble is last generation"
omg...
Tecnoligy that should have been stalk with the system is now finally comeing...
omg...
more like wtf...

You think about that when you buy your wireless adapter for your 360 Mr Luben.
This is a feature that I can do with (rumble) but for those who still go gooey over it, then I'm sure they'll be very happy.
i'll wait until the wireless adapters come with rumble.

Oh man, you should have been at the playstation forums before they announced rumble, someone would ask about it and the thead would get bombarded with 'OMMG DATS LAST GEN'
But they said that rumble could actually replace sixaxis instead of just go along with it, either way I couldn't really care. Motion sensing wouldn't be my reason for buying a ps3
i really havent followed the ps3 much beyond its commercial failures... has the motion control really been implemented at all?
