1) I have a dialup connection that works fine with the Forecast Channel (connected via my wireless router) but it won't work with the shop channel. I tried to load it, and left it there for about 15-20 minutes and nothing. It still said "Connecting...". After about 2 minutes, the transfer of data light on my router went off and that meant it wasn't sending anything else. Is this a problem or does it time out after a certain amount of time to connect?

2) I also tried to do a system update and it was stuck at like 1% (or whatever that little bit of blue at the end of the bar meant) forever and the bar never moved so I stopped the update. Can I do a system update via some other method like downloading it from the internet and installing it via a SD card or something?

3) There are some virtual console games that I'm dying to have. I have no friends with broadband internet, they all have dialup so I can't go anywhere with broadband to do it. The place where I download other stuff is the library but there's no television and if there were it would be too much of a hassle to bring my Wii there and connect it and all that. Can these virtual console games be paid for and downloaded through my computer or anything?
WiiConnect24 is a broadband service, I'm afraid.

I'm amazed you got it to slightly work on dialup!

but the only other way to update is to buy MP3
Heh, it's kind of a big pain, but you could drive to a Mcdonalds or nearby hotel that offers WiFi access. Sit outside in the parking lot, with a converter to power your Wii and a small TV.

Outside of that, I'm going to have to assume that your connection to Nintendo's server is timing out when you try to access anything data intensive. This is perhaps why the Forecast channel, which doesn't require much data to be sent/received, yet nothing else.

I would try to snag a wifi signal from a neighbor if possible. Move your wii around the house until you pick up a signal from somewhere else.

No, there is no other way to get those games as of yet.
Search for an access point and steal your neighbors internets Big Grin
What Z and wenis said works... My old house i had my wireless setup but my neighbors has better reception to my Wii in my room so i stole theirs instead of using mine.
