The secret ending of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core shows a familiar scene for fans of Square's long revered RPG series. Could the "to be continued" that ominously appears at the game's end suggest a remake, like many have theorized? We'd hope so, but we remain skeptical. Most likely, the Final Fantasy team is pulling a George Lucas, reminding people of where this new effort lies in the overarching timeline. Of course, once Square realizes how much money they'll be printing with a re-release of the original Final Fantasy VII, we hope they come to their senses soon enough. Video embedded after the cut.

The Masterpiece that was VII is back (or going to be back) and it gets the next gen treatment.....WOW
They should just make a remake for the PS3 and end the story.
But why? Look at it from Square's view. They can milk the VII compilation easily. And it works.
We've seen the other games go through port after port after port...I wouldn't mind seeing totally revamped graphics and sound for all the FF series, while keeping the basic structure and story of the games intact.
But where does it stop? Will they remake the remakes again?

I think we'll see an FF-VII remake, but not until they've explored all aspects of the Compilation. A remake would be the logical way to finish the VII Compilation once and for all. Finishing it where it all began.
Well, it's just like with FFVII, the Playstation game was a masterpiece, but everyone wants it to look and sound better, so the PS3 comes out and the chances of that happening are very good.

As for the earliest FF games (cartridge based ones) they were remade, but generally for the PS, and now with the PS3 they could truly look and sound amazing.

I own 2 copies of FF2 (US FF2) and love the game, but I'd be willing to pay $59.99 for a the same game, but with true next gen graphics and sound.
As would any FF-VII fan. Hell, I'd buy a PS3 if I heard about a FF-VII remake being in the works.

But I still don't see it happening for several years. I think they want to explore the ending of Dirge of Cerberus still with Genesis.
