i could have sworn that i was able to display my desktop icons as a list, but i cant seem to find the option now. im using winxp pro, btw.
what do you mean
like find the folder they are all in?
lol. i forgot about this thread.
i want the icons on my desktop to be displayed as if it were in a list similar to the option available when viewing a folder.
not off the top of my head :/
Can't figure it out on Vista. I'm sure there is a way, but it might need 3rd party apps
What are you running on your computer?
XP, Vista, mac-osx etc.?
Go to my computer, and on the let it should say 'Desktop'. In vista at least, I am pretty sure it is in XP too. if not i can check on my other computer which runs xp

To clarify, you want your desktop to be in list view always, right? Otherwise, as Wenis said, it's pretty easy to just see them in the browser in list view, if you just need to check a date or something.

yep.
i know how to view the desktop in a folder/browser, so wenis' post doesnt really help, but i do appreciate the effort.
you can make a menu on the side of the desktop (like a quicklaunch)
but that's all I can think of :/
like this then?
if thats it, just go right click your taskbar>toolbars>desktop

nope, but if thats as good as it gets, then i'll take it. thanks!
is it like a little window with all the desktop icons in it, that you can move around/stretch out on your desktop? if THAT is it, then i know you can do it in xp by dragging the desktop toolbar away from the taskbar. I can't get it to work in Vista though, but I do remember doing that in xp
wenis, here's a 'chop i made of what im trying to do:
notice that the my icons are in a list form, but still located directly on the desktop.
yeah, I know what you're trying to do.
I think there might be a registry hack, but I don't know it :/
oh i've never seen that before. probably need some 3rd party thing like joker said
