That website is totally nuts. Since when did the ancient Mayans predict Biblical events when they never knew about Christianity? And there's some pretty awful scientific errors. Take this for example:
Some scientists are concerned that Mayans in their time could see some hidden asteroid paths that are stealth today. The alignment of Sun, Moon and the earth on December 21, 2012 is significant because gravitational release of hidden asteroids can take place.
Leaving aside the fact the alignment of the Sun, Moon and Earth makes no difference other than causing a solar or lunar eclipse, no such alignment should take place in December 2012 anyway. Also, how did the ancient Mayans discover these "hidden" asteroids without a telescope?
The date is the 21st of December 2012 if it hasn't been said already, I researched this ages ago for a feature film that I've been writing for a while. There's actually heaps of facts and things about it that are really interesting, On the day the earth is supposed to be aligned with the equator of the galaxy and come close to this patch of dark matter or something. I don't really know whether I believe it's the end of the world or not, my Grandad said that it's been misinterpreted wrong over the years and isn't that it's the end of the world, but the world will change forever or something more along those lines. Anyway I guess we can only wait and see, should be interesting considering the Mayans were never wrong about their predictions of Lunar Eclipses and things...

I think the Egyptian calender also stops at 2012 because they believed something cataclysmic would happen to the Earth. People can make fun all they like, but even if you don't believe in what the Mayans and the Egyptians wrote, it's still pretty interesting that they came up with the same year.
