ONLINE CHATTING W/ THE "SPECTACULAR" ONLINE GAME PLAY

Is Nintendo afraid our teenage butts are going to get harmed by chatting with someone online, or actually meeting strangers in person? This is what I think Nintendo thinks about this and it goes something like: "Oh god, I wouldn't want that to happen, Lets keep it safe and fun for everyone" (by everyone they mean little kids)

Have warning pop ups i don't care, just let the hardcore gamers have their fun too. parental controls? did anyone think of that?

Give me some input here. Im sure i'm definitly not the only one who thinks this.
I agree. What's the point of the parental controls on the console if every online game imposes its own for of them, i.e. forces them on us?
I'm still "meh" at voice chat. If I want to voice chat bad enough whilst gaming there's always Skype. Or even having a DS game that has voice chat enabled running and using the DS headset on it.
but do you really want to have to go through such ridiculous trouble?
Like I said, I'll only do it if I really want voice chat.
D/P owners have no trouble at all with voice chatting.

But really, just use skype or something, get a $10 Mic for your computers.

This is such an old topic though, we already know Nintendo isn't keen on this kinda stuff this console time threw, so why complain, just deal with it.
I think Wii will get voice support. But not til like next year or something simliar.
tottally agree/

nintendo says they havent forgotten about the harcore by releasing games like smashbros.

But thats not good enough if the make all the games child proof.

the reason people(at least me) want online is for ranking to see whos the best. And playing by yourself without any form of communication is lame(not counting with friends).

nintendo like to do stuff like this though, they never listen to wat consumers want. thats why theres no hard drive or headset
lack of voice chat will really only be a problem in games like BWii and CoD:H2 because they require you to coordinate with your allies. I dont mind having no voice chat for something like brawl though, it would be nice but its no big deal imo

CoD:H2?
You mean Medal of Honor I hope?

Lol i'm sure thats what he meant. No i agree, online chatting is not really needed for games like SSBB but games like medal of honor then it definately would be needed to help coordinate. Granted I don't use it on my FPS's on my pc but i at least got a keyboard i can use there.
Here's my question. Not sure if anyone has asked this or not. In SSBB online games we are supposed to be able to chat with each other by programming in certain phrases that we can assign to button combinations. Now I'm not sure if we can decide what it will say or if is set and you can't change it but if we can indeed change it then what's the stop people from using rude comments or words? As others have said, parental controls are there or should be there for a reason. If you don't want your kids using or hearing others when playing online then turn on parental controls so that other users will be muted. I'm not sure whether or not I'd use it anyways but I'd at least like to have the option.
Isn't the preprogrammed messages only available when you are playing with people on your friends list? And yeah, even though i don't think voice is nessecary for this game I'm sure it would be alot of fun. They could have done it and just left it to the parents to use the parental controls. But I'm sure its to late to change it so why complain. Toungue
I'm almost impartial on voice chat. I only use it on the occassion, so lack of voice chat would be okay. But if Nintendo did add support I'd buy it. But I doubt it'll happen any time soon, if at all.

Good point, there.

Well Nintendo should look at having voice at least for the games that would need it for the cooperation. I would like it for that anyways. So what are the odds that it will actually happen...for anygame....any guesses?
I'm inclined to agree, Snake. If we DON'T complain, Nintendo will think we're happy with the way they are doing their online (not to mention a few OTHER things...). And let me assure you, given how high up on Google searches WiiLoaded pops up, Nintendo marketing researchers have read the threads on this site, and they will continue to read them.
Part of the problem (I think, personally) is Nintendo's current success. Its almost like the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra is out in force here. The Wii and DS are selling well every month, which means people like that they're getting, which means the consumer is happy, so why do anything different?

Now, I do NOT agree with that concept at all. Having voice chat is a MUST for this generation. Nintendo should have learned their lesson about being a step behind with the gamecube and its total lack of online multi-player. They've attempted to show that its a lesson learned with the Wii, but they're still behind the ball here. If you want a community online, you kinda sorta need to be able to communicate, and tapping on-screen keyboards is NOT communicating (at least, not effectively). The technology is out there; I mean, the DS has a freakin headset mic, why doesn't the Wii!?
Why doesn't Wii have one? It's still to early for one. The amount of online games is increasing slowly. And really there are only two games that voice chat would be beneficial, BWii & MoH:Heroes2. But they will do fine without it. To me it really isn't a NECESSITY for this generation. I really don't want some jerk in another state or country yelling in my ear.
