I don't want to start a "flame noodleboy" fest, so hear me out:
We're all upset about the lack of rankings in Brawl. I know, I was (and still kinda am). But look at the bright side. Being on medical leave from my college (I've got mono

) has given me lots of time to play my Wii, and I've been playing lots of MSC. The online, while fun, is corrupted by the douche-y folks out there who love to disconnect. Why? the rankings! So, though it does suck we won't be able to pit our scores against others around the globe, could this mean that we'll actually get to play ENTIRE matches at a time?
I'm not gonna take a side here, since I wanted rankings in the first place, but could this make the online somewhat more enjoyable? It's not like tournaments were gonna get switched to online--those would have stayed as physical happenings either way due to Smash's high speed action.
Your thoughts?
No, there'll still be d/c'ers because if they are losing bad enough, they'll do whatever they can to avoid it.
i think nintendo wanted to avoid people shutting of their wii so they didnt do rankings so people would be persuaded to leave it on even if they r losing.
there will still be rankings from here on WL maybe, or at least definitely on smashboards.
You're gonna run into people who are like that (disconnect when losing) no matter what. I do think that since the matches aren't ranked that it will curve the amount a bit. We'll have less disconnections but they'll still be those who do unfortunately.
some people will disconnect and think "well, it's not ranked, and im losing horribly. they wont care cuz it's not ranked"
I just hope SO badly that random matches won't be like MSC where almost HALF don't get completed cause of d/c-ing
Haha, you mean when people get p155ed and turn off the console?

yea i hate those people
they'll be down like 1 pt and disconnect even though they have a chance to tie the game.
They are called quitters. Nobody likes them.
i would never disconnect, a loss is a loss and a win is a win, i hate takin' losses but at least you played fair, why would you want a perfect record but know you got it by d/c-ing
they should create something where ur suspended for a certain amount of time for shutting off ur wii. that'll get those quitters to stop
That's the bad thing about not having rankings. If they had rankings then if you d/c you could lose "x" amount of points from your rankings.
i think the best way for them to keep people from disconnecting would be to like erase all your points if it happens. The only bad thing about it would be against people who disconnect on accident (like router dies or something)
I really hate d/c-ers... I REFUSE to do it. In fact, I was playing MSC online and my batteries were dying, causing my remote to keep screwing up and reset my nunchuck's neutral position and I STILL let the match play out, knowing I'd lose a gazillion to zero.
I like your honor.
i wish there was some sort of rankings and truskill system like XBL.... but i guess we can have our cake and eat it too right chaps?

what are these things you speak of? (I know NOTHING about XBL other than that people say it's awesome and Wii's Wi-Fi would be better off modeling off of it
)
was it something like if you disconnect, you'll take the loss anyway and your ranking would go down
when the ppl d/c u should win the match anyway so it wouldnt make a difference win or lose or u should be able to press the home button and it says "quit?" "yes" "no" and it should giv u 5 seconds to decide just incase ppl would try and pause it for a long time making u quit
I'm assuming the HOME button will not be usable in online, as that would just be plain annoying.
