And when I say announced, I mean it is literally just an announcement. No name, no date, no info. All we know that Fire Emblem is set to return to handhelds (AT LONG LAST).

i'd say brand new. DS has a history of taking a serious and spinning it off into a whole different direction, which i'm perfectly fine with. FE seems to be a very well written series with good stories. seeing a new one pop up wouldn't upset me in the slightest

I also think new game. And I have long thought DS be the logical home for Fire Emblem, with the ability to use the touch screen.
IMO the 3D ones have not been as good as the old FE's, and in comparison with the Handheld FE's I'd say they are roughly equal in quality.

i don't see why they wouldn't include rough 3D on the DS. maybe not fully 3D environments, but switching to a 3D battle sequence is not above what the DS can handle. besides, the game being 2D or 3D should matter little when it comes to how good the game actually is. if it's a 2D kick-ass game, awsome. if it's 3D and kicks ass, awsome. i'm not a graphics whore. as long as it's good i'll take it
I was just saying. I thought the battle sequences on the 3D games looked dull, and I much preferred the 2D style.

I loved all the handheld versions (as long as we agree FE8 doesn't really count...) And I agree, 2d was better than PoR.
Who cares about the graphics, if I got a 2 screen GBA game, I seriously wouldn't care.... the music can get a quality upgrade though.

Yeah, it's a remake of FE 1...which I've already finished about 1000 times.... Ah well, you know I'm still gonna pay 35.00 for it.

Online isn't exactly necessary for Fire Emblem and I doubt it'll be included.
And if this is a FE1 remake then it is definitely Marth.

And in fact, people are saying that there is an online mode being included... I wonder how it will work.

I want a co-op mode....would be sick. A vs. would be awesome, a sort of weird chess game.... Or maybe treat a mode more like a traditional rts, with sacrificial nameless units with the ability to "call" in units pulled from a save file.
Hope the cutscenes are tight.... Don't get me wrong, the hand-drawn drool-inducing artwork from FE7 was great, but I prefered the CG stuff on the GC. (see what I did there? meh...*shoots self for un-funniness*)

lol, I recommend playing FE7 (Fire emblem in NA), FE8 (sacred stones), and FE9 (Path of Radiance - GC) first.
