Your Wii system is flashing blue again, yearning for your attention. A new system update is available, version 3.1, and it now officially includes USB keyboard support. (A previous update featured very limited keyboard functionality.) This should greatly increase the usability of the Internet Channel.
Also capitalizing on this new addition is an updated Everybody Votes Channel, which can be upgraded through the Wii Shop Channel. The free update doesn't appear to have any cosmetic changes. Rather, it simply adds keyboard support for submitting questions.
In addition, the Wii User Agreement has been updated. It's supposed to be available at support.nintendo.com, but as of this writing, an older document from the system's launch was still in place.

I agree, the keyboard functionality will be a lot nicer if you use the Wii to surf the internet, but I generally don't since it has such limited functionality with video files and such. Anyhow, I'm glad Nintendo finally gave us this update.
Yeah i saw the messages about it this morning before i left for work. Will be pretty cool, don't use my wii to surf the web but still the enhanced kb support will be really nice if i ever do.
i dont really use my wii to surf the net, so this doesnt matter to me that much
use my wii 2 surf quite alot infact using it now will b great 2 try the key boars later will give me something 2 do when the gf steals my laptop later for her my spacw lol

That is very true, i was expecting something utterly amazing, but i was still half in a dream state at 6:30 this morning before work so thats why i probably thought that. Any ways your right, something is better than nothing right.

so how will it work exactly? you click on a box to type something...does the text box still pop up that you used the wiimote with, or will it be like a computer browser where you just click and type?
nice update i dont use it alot but my computer is slower than a one legged rabbit so i might use it now!

This is great although i lack a USB keyboard.
Well I did the update, and then updated the internet and voting channel, and my USB keyboard still does not work on the Wii. I took the keyboard to my computer and it worked great, but nothing happened when it was hooked up to the Wii.

that's why I plugged it into my computer to see if it would work. it's an old USB keyboard, but Vista recognized it right away and it starting working, so I'm not sure what bug the Wii has up it's arse, but I don't like it
