I read from an uncredible source (random internet poster) that Nintendo said twilight princess is going to be the last Zelda to use 'that style' (as in the realistic-ness). if thats true im going to be so mad, the two best games i've played are OoT and TP, both used the realistic style. and besides cel-shaded (which i dont really care for) what other type of style is there to use?
I wouldn't be too surprised, It's the cel shaded they'd go for.

I personally think it works quite well.
All I heard was style. Where does it say it's ditching realistic(ish) graphics?
We don't even know what to expect from the next Zelda, so don't go getting scared. I very much doubt they'll ditch realistic visuals though.
the guy that was talking about it said it won't be that style when he was talking about its graphics, if I remember right. i'll try to find that review in a sec

and I really don't want it to stay cel-shaded, for exmaple in windwaker, the boss battles are supposed to be intense and all, but it just seemed too... 'happy' or whatever because of the graphics. but thats just me I guess
I think the cel shaded visuals were a nice a addition. Granted, I don't want them to commit to them for every game in the franchise, I don't think they will either.
i like the cel-shaded visuals, but i would miss the realistic graphics after a while.
dang I really can't find where I read that. but thinking about it, by 'style' he may have meant that whole twilight/midna thing. which would make sense since at the end of the game after the credits she broke that mirror.
Well cel-shaded graphics works great for DS LoZ titles. I doubt they will ditch realistic graphics.
they wouldn't ditch it, but i think it'll take a back seat to the cel-shaded. Chances are they'll stick with the cel-shading for the DS and future handhelds, and alternate between graphic styles for the Wii and future consoles. OoT and MM realistic, WW cel, TP realistic, next game (or two) cel, game (or two) after that realistic. Or they may choose to create one of each for each console. they had WW and TP slated for the GC, and now that TP is also on the Wii, it also leads to the next game being cel shaded...then one of each for the next console, to keep the trend.

but that's just how i see it going.
If this is true i will be very disappointed for I just love the realistic type of graphics.
well, Link's Crossbow Training is using the EXACT same graphics, so there's some hope for you Toungue
I've heard similar rumblings. I think it was actually a Nintendo rep who once said something like this. It could really mean anything from graphics to gameplay to storyline to who knows what. Some people have mentioned the possibility of going first-person a la Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I wouldn't read too much into it until we hear something official. I have heard some contradictory statements since. We were all shocked when OoT went 3D, then when Wind Waker went cel-shaded, and equally or even more shocked when Twilight Princess went back to realistic after Nintendo stated they would use the same graphic style as WW. I expect first details to come out later next year, maybe E3 (if there is one).
Remember that rumor going around a while ago that the next Zelda was going to be set in a futuristic world where instead of a horse Link had a flying bike or something like that? Maybe that's what they mean by style, the setting and that kind of thing. I know a lot of people wouldn't like the futuristic setting, personally I think it would be a nice chance if they did it right, I mean until Nintendo's next system comes out that has more powerful graphics etc etc, any more Twilight Princess/OoT style games on Wii are going to basically be clones (which isn't a bad thing but you know Nintendo is always gong for innovation...supposedly).
So I think they'll do something different for the next one, what that is I don't know, if it was set in the wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass sub universe I wouldn't mind because I'm loving PH at the moment and if it was set in the future I think it would be good too...Let's just hope they announce something in the near future.
I was kinda hoping they'd ditch that awful cel shaded crap...I dont like Link looking like a cartoon Sad
It isn't that bad people >Sad

At least they tried something different.
Stylized art withstands the test of time.

I may not like Wind Waker's Link, but his being a young adult as he is in Twilight Princess goes against what Link is supposed to be - a pure hearted youth defying Evil.

Hypothetically, I would adore a Zelda game that had a stylized look similar to say... Team Fortress 2 far as use of colors and physical structure. Also, one where Link is not merely a child or an adult - but that age to where you're spry yet fully capable of bashing someone's face in. A teenager.
OoT and TP are the coolest games!

I hope you realize that the "futuristic Zelda" was a video hoax for April Fool's day. There will be a futuristic Zelda around the same time there is a mideval Halo (read: never).

I love Mario games more then Zelda games!
