Ah, Mario Kart. Remember the days of Super Mario Kart? Where there was a ghost level with the wooden floor, and no borders to keep you from falling yet you did every two seconds? Remember Mario Kart 64? Where your friends would get mad at you for taking the shortcut on Rainbow Road? Well guess what? The Wii gets it's own installment of the popular Mario Kart series and this time, there are motorcycles!

Remember what Nintendo said at E3? "This ain't your father's Mario Kart". With every new piece of info they release, that statement is becoming more and more true. This time around you can do wheelies, spin tricks, and adjust the torque on your kart! Okay, maybe not, but with the past announcment of 16-player races, and now motorcyles, I think everyone can agree with me when I say Mario Kart is undergoing some serious changes. Get ready to wheelie along with fifteen friends in the first quarter of 2008.

Interesting, but no really big deal.

I want to hear more about the WiFi mode and a release date.
I'm not sure why Nintendo would make this kind of change to a franchise that's done so well. Remember the old adage...if it's ain't broke don't fix it?

Give me good online, and a lot of karts to drive and that'll make me happy. I don't need bike's in "Mario Kart".
Man, this is Sweet, but i dont want it to mess up the winning formula...

well the name wont be right...

'Mario Kar- oh, um Bik- damn...'
It definately sounds interesting although i am a fan of the classics, it seems ever new mario kart that comes out i like less then the others. Hopefully this will be different and if it is different for me then it will probably have alot to do with it having 16-multiplayer online.
At least they ditched that crappy Double Dash style.

Agreed, Double dash was my least favorite Mario Kart out of all played including DS. I mean it wasn't bad but was definately not my favorite by anymeans.

I hope the battle mode in Mario Kart Wii brings back the MK64 version of block fortress, or something similar to it. I would be so happy if they did that! Big Grin

lol. ive been off wiiloaded for about 2 hours and ricky throws 2 news news portal articles out there Toungue
this mario kart is looking to be the best yet. but i too wanna know about the wi-fi options and release date.
I was one of the few people that enjoyed Double Dash. I thought it was some of the best racing since the SNES, although the battle stages really blew. I'll wait and see on the bikes, but Nintendo usually doesn't mess up their big franchises.
I will agree with you on the fact that the racing wasn't too terribly bad but the battlemode maps sucked horribly in my eyes, and battlemode is my favorite mode on mariokart.
I think the bikes might add some new elements to the game and hopefully it will be good.
RO-BIKE anyone?

DS had a bike on it...

i enjoyed it too, up until a week after i beat it. i hope there'll more unlockables in this one. concept art would be cool.

Hopefully they do good on the bikes.
Shouldn't some credit be given Cpt.McCloud for reporting the story first yesterday?

The bikes sound like a cool addition and popping wheelies should be a lot of fun.
