First we had rumors that Mario Kart Wii was going to have 16-Player on-line multiplayer. Then it was downplayed to only 8-Player due to speculation spread amongst fans of the series. Well it turns out it's exactly in between!
Eagerly anticipated racing title Mario Kart Wii, due out spring 2008, will employ an Online Multiplayer mode with allowances for up to 12 players racing on the screen at the same time. One of the most popular and highly regarded on-line games of all time, Mario Kart DS, had only 4-Player network play, and look how that went down!
After the emergence of
bikes in 'Kart Wii, nothing could satisfy fans more than to know that their favorite Nintendo racer has a dedicated on-line mode. Now all we have to groan about is Friend Codes...

I doubt this game would be. the DS version wasn't, and usually they are supposed to improve sequals instead of make them crappy
even though some times that isn't the case... well not intentionally at least
Brawl isn't region locked online. If you can point me to a quote where Sakurai says "Super Smash Bros. Brawl has region locked online so people from different countries cannot fight each other" then I will believe you.

Sakurai said that you can play anyone around the world but the chances of lag are greater.

I'm really excited for this game. Can't wait but wish we didn't have to deal with friend codes. That and I hope they decide to keeps stats for this game.
My one worry is the wheel. Not too excited about that. I could see this game being delayed til as late as fall '08. Motorcycles is intriguing though.
I don't think i can use the wheel to play it, think i may need to use to good ol' control stick, don't know why but i'm better with that for some reason, maybe cause the steering wheel is not attached.
As long as they give me the option to not use the wheel then I'll be happy. Online is already ftw and with 12 players that makes it that much better. I'll be looking forward to playing with you guys!
