I am looking into purchasing a fairly cheap laptop in the future for internet browsing and work etc.
But I was curious if is there any good games which I could play on it, new or old.
I am looking to pay around £350-400 for a laptop and was just curious if I were able to play any decent games other then football management sims

battlefield 2 is a great game and I know the requirements for that game aren't too heavy. what type of games do you like to play though?

I heavily enjoyed the age of empires games on the pc, I also quite enjoy FPS on PC.
Far cry is a classic, you could probably get low settings to run fairly well... Counterstrike 1.6 and HL are good too.

The ones I am looking into are similar to:
# INTEL CELERON M 430 Processor 1.73GHz
# 533MHz FSB
# Genuine Windows Vista ® Home Premium
# 1MB Cache
# 1024MB RAM
# 80 GB Hard Drive
# DVD +/- RW Optical Drive
# 15.4'' WXGA GLARE Widescreen
# 128MB Intel UMA Shared Graphics Memory
More likely:
# Intel Celeron Processor M520
# 1.60GHz, 533MHz FSB, 1MB Cache
# Genuine Windows Vista ® Home Premium
# 1GB Memory
# 80GB Hard Drive
# DVD ReWriter MultiDrive
# 15.4" Widescreen Display
# 251MB Intel GMA 900 Graphics
# Wireless Enabled
# 2.75Kg Weight
Get one with like....a X1800 gfx card.
But my favorite PC game of all time (the only one still loaded on my computer after a reformat) is Total Annihilation. Released in 1997, it can basically run on anything. That second doesn't look too bad, although a 666FSB and 2 MB cache is always nice.
Also, Battle For Middle Earth 2 would run on that I think.

Yeah, I was considering battle for middle earth.
Could anyone confirm anything?
Like what good games could run on the second example I gave in an above post?
I recently got quite a good laptop for 390 from comet.
It is a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Li1818
Windows Vista Home Premium
1Gb Ram
130Gb SATA HDD
Intel Celeron M
Intel Mobile 945 family chipset
DVD R Drive
17" Glass Widescreen
if you wanna play games newer than 2002 then don't buy a celeron and don't buy intel graphics.

I'm not a custom builder and these are just a few PC's I saw recently while looking over a site.
Could be worse, Could be an E system.

Word...
They pretty much owned everything with core2duo. Less $, less power, more speed....
What's the range of notebook cards that Nvidia is putting out?
Could I get a laptop that could handle Guild Wars or Unreal 2004 for around £350+
Umm, not sure were that would sit in the Dollar amount but those games don't require high end specs. I know for $500 here which is the lower end one you should be able to play those games.
And this is kinda off topic, but god its dead on here today.

True, but your sig and avvy make foruming worth while
Well £350+ is $700+ or something around that area gave or take $50 or whatever but as we know prices are different and when I say a £350 laptop it could be a $500 laptop over the pond rather then like $700.
It'd require a lot of hunting, but you could find a better laptop for an even better price if you look hard enough. I think those configurations could handle Unreal just fine. Not sure about Guild Wars, never played.

Being able to play Unreal 2004 would make life worth living
I need a game to focus on for online play and such
I could look up the specs for guild wars when i get home today.....if i remember
I'll just go look on my box.
