That's because online isn't really suited for a competitive Smash style.

But there'll be an abundance of casuals on there for you guys to Smash.
Don't forget the scrubs!
Well this will be fun, give me about a week or 2 and i can get pretty decent. I feel like laying some smack down d:
like the wrestling game? lol.

This isn't some super competitive game we're talking about - sure, it has that scene just as any other game does, but for the vast majority of the Wii's fanbase hardcore play is the last thing on their minds!

I doubt that.

Smash is a super competitive game. Well atleast with me and my friends it is. Wii has sold over 10 million and im sure quite alot are into hardcore play.

What your saying is anyone who owns a Wii isnt a hardcore player?

Sure i'll throw a couple of body slams in there d:

Come now, I'm smarter than using sweeping generalizations, unlike industry experts. You forget who the Wii's target audience is according to the advertisements we've seen since release; old people and babies. If you don't believe me, just ask Akira Yamaoka in his interview! "The Wii user is not a Hardcore user" were his exact words and his reasoning for not bringing a series like Silent Hill to the console.

I have a whole topic dedicated to that perception in offtopia, though. Tangent!

In all honesty I feel abandoned by Nintendo and regret ever buying the system. Smash will be the only thing that can redeem it in my eyes, since it appeals to both those old people and babies that Nintendo's been catering to since launch, and guys like us who just like being jerks on the internet. I wouldn't have even bothered if there was no online play, at least!

You wouldn't have bothered if there's no online play?

That's one of the stupidest things I keep hearing from complacent fans. Melee has no online, is that less of a game for it?
Considering I'm an adult who doesn't have time to drive over to my wee friend's houses and play them at videogames, my answer is a resounding yes.
Too "mature" to play face to face, hey? Even though I find it far superior to online.
No, it's just that would require me driving upstate to Orlando for about 2 hours. Then 2 hours back.

Then being late for class and failing my test tomorrow because I was too busy driving to Orlando and back to play smash brothers.
do you never socialize? I'm pretty sure most people who play multiplayer video games don't call people up and say "let's play video games!" but rather have people over and are hanging out when someone poses the idea "hey guys, anyone down for a round of smash?" and then everyone's like "wait lemme finish my beer" or "after this cigarette" or "hells yeah! you're goin down b****!" (the last one only applies after heavy drinking Toungue
Most of my friends have moved away, so online play has become an increasingly powerful reason for me to buy certain games so I can connect with them by other means than an IM or Phone. Hell, I'm moving out of state soon, so I won't have a choice!
aww, lame Sad where you moving to? maybe you can make some friendlies there Smile
