I am am new to the Wii. My question is do all the games use the motion controller like in Wii sports or do they just use the buttons. I also own an XBOX360. For the Wii I am only interested in games for the motion works otherwise I will buy the Titles for the XBOX. And how can you tell if the Wii games use the full motion option? For instance in a game like Tiger Woods do you just push buttons to hit the ball or do you have to swing the controller?
Thanks
I think nearly every Wii game features motion control, to varying degrees. Yes, Tiger Woods is motion controlled. There are still a few games that revolve more around button-pressing schemes but even those feature the motion controls in some form (see: Super Paper Mario).
Most games use a combination of buttons and motion, or give you the option to use buttons with very basic motions (move the controller left to right).  To be honest, there are very few games like wii sports that control games solely using motion, and a lot of those are party games.

Most incorperate the motions into standard games thus improving the experience.  In the Godfather, you can smack people around and toss them using very intuitive controls.  In Zelda you just wiggle your wrist every so often.  Varying degrees.

My best advice is to read gaming websites (like ign.com if you can't find what you need in the review section here) on games you might be interested in and pay close attention to when they talk about controls.  It might be best to join an online game rental service or something from blockbuster.

Specifically on Tiger Woods, you can use buttons or motion, but the motion is pretty difficult and frustrating if your swing is bad.  I found Wii Golf much more fun, and preferred using the buttons on TW.
There are quite a few games coming out for the Wii that you would like. Most of them incorporate both buttons and motion seeing as some of the more complicated games you can't do everything with motion. There are quite a few games out there that are definately worth trying, for example

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Guitar Hero III - TBR 10/29
Super Mario Galaxies - TBR 11/8 i think

Those are the games i think that are the most worth while that are out or will be out within the next month. There are other games as well that are very fun but are more on the casual gaming side if you get into that. And like Harmonica said it would not be a bad idea to check out some reviews to get an idea of what you might like to play and the controls and such. And if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask. Anyone will be willing to help you out.

Also forgot to mention that Manhunt 2 is supposed to have very "interesting" controls for the Wii Wink
Thanks for the help. The motion interests me because I am older( 54 years old) and need the exercise. Last night I played all of the Wii Sports games and got a real good workout.
Well if your looking for games like that, another good one would be Wiiplay and there is one coming out in december called Wiifit that includes a balance board that you can do aerobics and streches and stuff like that.

edit: well now that i think about it wiiplay has more minigames with less movement but there are other games out there with what your looking for.
Wii Fit comes out this December for Japan, but no other dates have been revealed. Another game you might be interested in is Dance Dance Revolution: hottest Party for Wii. There are modes where you use the dance mat combined with hand movements.

And btw Welcome to Wiiloaded Smile

Always like to see people who really get into Wii Sports. Not like those people who just sit down and flick their wrists and then complain about not having fun.

WiiFit will be right up your alley. All it is, is an exercise game that I think you'll really enjoy. Like Wii_Rulez said, there's no release date set right now but I'd say Febuary or March latest would be good bets. Also, avoid Wii Play at all costs. You'll only wind up being disapointed.

Hmm... what else? Here's some info on Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree if you're interessted.

There's also Cooking Mama: Cook Off

Excite Truck is a game that relies almost entirely on motion, having you hold the controller sideways and tilt it to drive your truck.

That's all I can think of right now but if it's a work out you're looking for then I would defintely be looking at Wii Fit.

Hope I could help. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Smile

a few roumds of boxing on the Wii Sports is an excellent workout, also Metroid Prime 3 has some excellent variation of movemments on the wiimote
Wii fit would be perfect for a workout. You should buy that when it comes out. Hope you enjoy your Wii!!!!!!
