Alright, so E for All had a bad first day. It's a weekday we can't be expecting much. Even so, many prominent webblogs have returned with their own tales of depression.

The Internet Wrote:
* Macworld: "Some industry veterans who arrived on Thursday were a bit disappointed by what they saw. E3 veterans are accustomed to seeing every square inch of the mammoth convention center overflowing with game content. That's not the case with the new E for All show, as it only occupies the center's still-cavernous South Hall. But still, visitors were upbeat about getting their hands on the latest games and gaming technology, and vendors were anxiously anticipating a steadily increasing stream of foot traffic throughout the next few days."

* NextGen: "On a preliminary basis, the show does seem to suffer from the fact that Sony and Microsoft aren't present-maybe next year. Not having several of the big third-party publishers present as exhibitors also brings down the energy level a bit, perhaps more so than we expected now that we're actually on the show floor."

* Game|Life: "E for All is a ghost town, right now. I was talking with the Nintendo guys about how nice it is to be able to actually swing your arms and not hit other people. But that's because the show floor is small and attendance is smaller. There are maybe a few thousand people in South Hall, spread wide out across the thin showing of booths. ... To be fair, the show's currently only open to pre-registered attendees. And it's a Thursday. Hopefully things will improve for this show closer to the weekend, or once they let in people off the street at 3 PM. But right now, wow. It's pretty sparse."

* Kotaku: "Around 3 PM, when those who hadn't pre-registered for the event were permitted to enter, crowds grew by about a third, but there was virtually no waiting to get on most games. ... Granted, it's Thursday, and many of the gamers who might be interested in hitting up E For All may not be able to make it down until the weekend, but first impressions of public interest in the event isn't fantastic. We could very well be looking at the first, and the last, E For All Expo. No one will mistake this event for the 'new E3.'"

If these trends prove true? I dub thee E-Minus.

I hope they don't cancel next years show, I'm hoping to go

why? shouldnt the Leipzig convention be closer to you? that's a far better convention than EfA.

There's too damn many conventions! As it stands in America, we have the closed showcase of E3, the gamer-public focused PAX (Which many hold as the spiritual successor to the old E3), and the developer focused GDC.

Do we really need another major expo?
That's banning reason

We should have 50 expo's, one for each state. w00t. Maybe not Alaska or Hawaii. lol

Yes but I don't speak German. I speak a little American though

Eh, I hate English people who think they can speak americanese.

lol
Leipzig? You know how hated we PAL'ers are. Lol.
Less people = more fun for the other ppl
Exactly, less people = shorter Brawl lines.
Now you're thinking with portals.

Also, thanks to the low attendance you might actually get to have one-on-one conversations with people who are in the gaming industry.
But Leipzig is huge? If WiiLoaded is invited again, and Kindrik is going, I'll see if I have the dough to go
Even if it turned out to be a castrated show they're still going to try and do it again. With better timing it might prove successful... The organizers say it did well enough to warrant another go at the LA Convention Center from Aug. 28-30 in 2008, which will probably put them in direct competition with the PAX! Either they plot something stretching far beyond our mortal minds, or they really are crazy...
I will hopefully go to EfA sometime in the future. So I can harrass lz while she sleeps. And by harrass. I mean Her-ass. And by that I mean feed her chocolate while she sleeps.
Seahorses like chocolate?
All things considered,

It WAS the first year of EfA.

It was incredible considering that. expect it to be twice as big next year when sony and microsoft show up.

Also, if we're lucky, WL might have grown enough to get into E3 next year*

So things are looking up

*don't shit the thought, you guys don't have a clue what's coming Wink
I don't know about that, E3 is downsizing more and more, and E4 is putting itself in direct competition with the PAX next year - what's with these guys and the timing of the damn event? First they put it after TGS so most of the big companies don't bother to come, then they want to duke it out against the beanbag laden juggernaut that's the PAX?

I foresee a favorable shitstorm in the future. Competition makes things better for all of us...
