For too long the media has spread around false ideals of what a proper form factor for a portable GameCube should be. The image above is not what real portable GameCubes look like friends? and the unrealistic expectations communicated to our GameCubes by the media needs to stop. In fact, a healthy, normal portable GameCube looks something like the picture on the right.
Weighing in at a healthy 2kgs (about 4 and a half pounds for us yanks?) and costing about $350, the lil? feller is obviously a labor of love. Portable is a bit of a misnomer for now? as PortaGCN still has to be plugged into a wall, but creator Ben Hartland says that an external battery pack is in the works
That first one looks cool. I'd buy it and ghetto-rig it with a battery-box PSU.
the first one loos better but would be difficult to play. and wheres the Z button
The Z button would probably be found near the R button just like on the Cube's control.
The first one does look better, and I always saw it as a really nice looking fake picture. The second is ugly, and if there ever is a portable Cube I hope it doesn't look like that.
I've seen those somewhere. I believe the same guy who made this made quite a few other portaconsoles. I believe numerous ataris and the whole line of nintendo consoles. Including a brilliant NES portable just slightly larger than the game cartridges itself. He does some fascinating stuff.
if they do get a gamecube portable (let's just call it GCP) I probably wouldn't use it.....maybe bring it with me in a hurricane but that's it....so I wouldn't get one
whers the pic guess it doesnt work for me
The first one I've seen in the CUBE magazine, it's old. The second one looks like a fusion of the N64 and a GCN controller... :S
The second one is hideous but I'm a sucker. I'll probably end up wasting my money on it down the road
The first one looked nice at first, second one plain terrible to look at... but if they do make a Gamecube Portable I don't think it'll look like either of them.
The 1st pic looks so much better. The second one is too big, and ugly. =/
The first One does look sick lookin and the second one is just too big boned.
Wouldn't it be wierd to put the SNES Super Gameboy emulator into an SNES Portable? Useless... Just get a Gameboy! lol
r anny of these acualy gonna hit stores or is this just somthing that people made up and post on the web
I heard of these a long time ago. They're real it's just that people bought Gamecubes and then modded them to be portable. I saw a crazy portable N64 made by some guy. Told you how to make it and everything. If I find it I'll post a picture of it.
I like this bit:
Portable is a bit of a misnomer for now? as PortaGCN still has to be plugged into a wall,
i agree with everyone so far, 1st is good. 2nd is probably the real one
Yeah, just look at the analog stick and the buttons. The analog stick looks 2D and the buttons don't look so great either. Still would've been cool though.
And look at this mod of a GBA!

That's not a GBA mod. That's an actual system made by Tapwave called the Zodiac. (See the name on there?) I'll admit that the style of the system looks real cool though but the company's bankrupt now.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapwave_Zodiac
that needed more marketing - i never even heard of it...
how old is it?
I don't know, I couldn't find that info. But I did find that it had a touch screen only it wasn't used like the DS since the touchscreen was for it's PDA function.
