I sure hope everyone realizes I've been attending E for All since Thursday by now. If you haven't...yeah, i was at EfA...
Anywho, Friday there was a Game Career Seminar. It basically talked about how other people have gotten into the industry and ways other people can get into the industry. During this seminar, there was a special segment where people got to pitch their original video game ideas to three judges. One was David Perry who had worked on such games as Enter the Matrix and Earthworm Jim, the 2nd was Dave Kosak (the executive editor of Gamespy) and the final was Ru Weerasuriya who was the co-founder of Ready At Dawn Studios. I had a game idea which several people at my school told me was a good idea, so I went ahead and pitched it to the panel. Five other people along with myself were chosen as semi-finalists. I got a hat, a shirt and a Target bag, got to pitch my idea to a few dozen people during the expo who voted for the final winner, and received a ticket to attend the Game Developer's Conference in February next year. I didn't win the final round, but I can still attend GDC, which we've not been invited to attend. Even if we were, tickets are $1500. So, as with EfA, I'll do my best to get some insider info of the conference and fill you guys in on what goes on. I'll also get to pitch my idea there too. Hopefully it'll go even better and I'll win some even better prizes or at the very least be noticed by professional video game creators and take a good first step in getting a career in the industry. ^_^
