Wel, i have a Yellow line that appears through the middle of the screen of my week-old laptop, its very annoying, and i cant get rid of it, I've tried restarting it, letting it rest and such.
Has anybody had this problem? Please help me.
My Laptop is a Toshiba 120 Gig, and it has Windows Vista.
Discolored pixels it sounds like. You should just return it to the store dude. But otherwise, ask sc7
It's hard to tell what causes such yellow lines. I can almost guarantee it's hardware related. Software related bugs usually are fixed by a restart, but this doesn't sound software related.
For extra measures, I'd recommend a quick backup, reformat. If it still exists, it's either
a.) The connections internally in the laptop are messed
b.) Something is wrong with the LCD
c.) (Usually only in laptops with dedicated graphics), the graphics chip is messed.
Bottom line, if a reformat doesn't fix it, take it back or send it back.
Lol, sc7 to the rescue, and after being called, only took 6 minutes.
That was 8! lol
Ya i would just take it in for a new one if there is nothing u can do to fix it.
You should of recieved a disk with your laptop, check the box it was packaged in. It should say something along the lines of Windows Vista - Recovery disk.
After you backed up your hard drive (either to another hard drive (externally or internally), CD/DVD or another storage device (Orb > Control Panel > System And Maintenence > Back up your computer (The Wizard will help you through))).
Turn your laptop off, pop in the recovery disk and turn your laptop back on. When a message pops up asking you if you want to boot from the CD, click 'yes'' or 'enter'. Then follow through with the instructions.
Reformatting your laptop erases everything from your hard drive (thats why the back up is handy

). This will take a few hours until completed. If the problem pursists, take your computer back to the store you purchased it from or ring up Toshiba Help and Support.

^^
It should take ~1:15 at MOST. Anyway, as Lee mentioned on your options, be sure to check, each manufacturer has different polices on when to go to them, vs take it back.
I think the best bet is a backup and just take it to the store, I HIGHLY doubt this is software related.

Hmm, Guess your right hehe.
But, When I last reformatted my laptop, it took well over an hour for it all to be completed :/ Guess my lappy is rubbish lol (yet I just bought it
)
I just called Toshiba Help and Support, and they say the problem is the monitor itself, and that i should take it to this place (which is like 53 miles away from my house). But im just gonna take it back to CircuitCity which is just less than a mile away

Awesome, good luck and tell us what happens

I'm not exactly sure where you bought your laptop at, but a friend of mine bought a Satellite at Walmart, and has had issues with her Toshiba laptop. Firstly, the way the system is designed, there's a line that goes across the screen, but that's because the keyboard literally touches the screen when it's closed. I'd guess residue or oils from hands gets on the screen and creates a think yellow line.
In her situation the issue is more of a design problem, rather than dead pixels, but I thought I'd just give you a heads up...just in case.
