After taking out the blue streak + star, fixing the pen line, and making it a bit darker, this is what I came up with.

Just a little something I made to show my excitement for SMG. Smile

c&c. Ignorance is bliss

I LOVE it! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
Way to many filters, too bright, no contrast, overall, not good.
D:

The blue trail behind Mario doesn't fit in at all.

Try putting a black layer on top and lowering the opacity so we can see a much darker version of the sig. That might help (a bit)
Mario looks a bit to sharp, might be the render.. but I think you sharpened, no?
Text looks nice, but not on that background.
Star doesn't seem to fit in at all, doesnt blend.
etc,etc.

The term for this type of sig would be a "filter pile", don't use filters to get "unique"results, you have to let your own creativity do the work, use the pen tool/learn to use it, if need be.
On the other hand im in love with your sig. Toungue

Lol, Brawny yelled at me on MSN for it being too dark. :/
But I do understand the blue streak etc... I'll see what it looks like without.

No, I didn't.
I don't even touch the sharpen tool/filter anymore. d:

Ok, this is where I'm stumped.
How does one make a good sig without filters? Filters do a lot of the work, aside from the gradient maps and pen tool and clipping masks (all of which I used) and brushes (kinda used some brushes here. Toungue).
I'm still a bit new (one month), so can you explain to me what you mean? :/

(Also, I didn't actually use many filters -- I only used the Filter > Distort > Wave for the background, then the Filter > Other > High Pass for fixing up some unwanted stuffs. :p Those are the only ones I used. I mostly used clipping masks, pen, brushing around a bit, smudging, lighting effects etc. Along with two C4Ds. That might be what you're seeing.)

Heh, looked like it was all filters xD
Well, its good you ix it up, but unless it blends together, its not going to be a good result. Filters may do "a lot of work" but thats also what takes away the creativity, you yourself should think of these seemingly random designs and put your own creativity into it, not let a computer, which has no creativity at all, do it. Thats why the more advanced designers stay away from filters except for the basic blurs and such.

making sigs is a thing of the past >.>
I finally upgarded my comp and can play video games again, its been YEARS.

That and I haven't really had the time to install PS yet...
