LMX fails to see the necessity of Nintendo's inability to accept what their fans want.
We've made Nintendo arrogant. We payed $249.99 for a system that clearly should have cost $199.99. Then everyone runs out and buys the D class games that Nintendo has released and comes on here and tells everyone how fantastic they are even though we know they're not.
Get ready for a firmware hack that allows external USB hard drives to save games and data...if Nintendo won't give the fans what they want, then the fans will make it happen themselves.
More memory = good
More memory is definately good especially with all the vc games out there and with wiiware coming out.
While I do not regret getting the Wii because of some of the kick@ss exclusive titles, but I still do wish I had a 360 or PS3.
i agree baron... I'm working on getting a 360 as we speak, in fact... makes me sad I feel a need to, but Nintendo's putting me in the position
go ahead and keep optimistic wii_ rulez... this is sad, and that comment about the ipod is BS, i bought a 160 gig ipod so that i can put more and more on and never worry about it...
If I don't who will D:
I hope they're just denying it so they wouldn't be bugged about it and secretly they are working on one.
lets say they where secretly working on one, wouldnt it only take like a day to make one and hto make firmware update that would support it. why woudnt they just release it.
Stuff like this is why nintendo makes me mad, they never listen to the fans.
I'm sure it would take more than a day to make a quality external hard drive. It took a little over a year for the 360 to get one. So it is possibility they are trying to create one that could be in the early stages.
I'm dying for someone to write an editorial entitled "Wii owners fail to realize they didn't buy an Xbox 360".
OMGNOWAI! I am totally wrong for Nintendo to accept the standard these days. PS3 has a HDD, 360 has a HDD. Nintendo's like "We think of it like an iPod" but HELL even an iPod has more than 512mg of space. Its stupid.
I know everyone wants this thing to be an 360, just with a Nintendo label on it, but it's not. It's a 250 dollar console. It's not a beast, it's a new approach to traditional gaming. This beast you guys want the Wii to be is available....it just costs $400 dollars and is called the Xbox 360.
The thing that is annoying is, they don't even need to make the HDD themselves, they just have to enable a firmware update that lets us connect our own USB HDD's. I'm sure its not that complex, is it? I'm not very knowledgable on the subject so if anyone knows that is then tell me and I'll admit this is wrong. But if it is easy, then they should just do it. I'd be fine with it, then I'd be able to use my 160gig one without a problem.
If you want to Nintendo to give you a harddrive, the best thing you can do is buy the products that DO have one. Right now ALL OF YOU have voted with your dollars and participation on a Wii fan site. Doesn't exactly send a message to Nintendo that their product line and branding isn't jiving with you guys.
I'm working on it. I'm buying a 360 next year and a PS3 the year after.
I supported the Wii... before it was released. Now I'm not so sure, as Nintendo are walking the Sony road... except stupider.
i agree im working on buying a 360 next year also, the Wii just isnt cutting it.
And Back at Rulez, just cause Microsoft took a year to make a HD doesnt mean it should, i mean come on, its Microsoft!! but atleast they had the smarts to do it, its really sad, but LMX is right, if they dont do it, someone else would, but i really would prefer to not go down that path.

Then get ready for the inevitable console update which disables it, almost certain to come as a mandatory update along with a triple-A title.

Agreed if anyone tried that Nintendo would just push an update to disable it and never allow it again.
Yeah, that would probably happen knowing Nintendo. Still it might show them what exactly we want. not likely though
Yeah it seems like nintendo is turning into a bunch of nazis though, we say we want something they say no, you want this instead!

All I'm saying it doesn't take a day to build one, it could take months to a year. The old say "rome wasn't built in a day" comes to mind. Pretty soon they will have to at least consider the possibility of a HDD because VC and WW games on top of Wii games begin to fill up space and the whole SD card portion was broken from the start.

this is true, but it was fun just to take a stab at Microsoft, but compared to some of the other things Nintendo has accomplished, this seems to me like it would be a relativaly small feat. and just because there is a need for a HDD, doesnt mean that Nintendo will pull the smarts out of there @$$es to make one, there really is a need for a headset, but see how far we've gotten on that one o.0
I was going to get a 360 as well but I'm getting a new Mac Pro now for editing so I can dual boot windows on it and use it for gaming but as for the Wii HDD I agree they either need to make one, provide support for existing USB hard drives...or both
Perhaps we should get ready for a firmware update that allows us to use larger SD cards. I personally think this is stupid, because in the short term and long term an external hard drive would be much cheaper.
Maybe we should start a petition...what's the website that lets you do that, and get tons of people sign it before being sent in to Nintendo?
Online petitions do nothing sadly. At least, not that I've heard.
Unfortunately we have to put up with Nintendo's stubborn idiocy for now.
heh, say they are working on one right now.
Then why the hell would they tell us they aren't?
I'm pretty sure making us lose hope in their company is a bad marketing move.
At least telling us they're makign one would build hype. This just makes us hate them.
So, eithier Nintndo is stupid.. or stupid.
At least Nintendo knows how to spell Nintendo. So they're not completely stupid.
