This may not be a new character, but it's definitely something new added to the upcoming Super Smash Brothers Brawl. It has just been released that SSBB will include the ability to create your own level!
The editor allows you to select the background image, the stage's size, the terrain, traps and even the music played during fights in the stage. The stage can then be saved to your SD card so you can head over to a friend's house and boast over the killer stage you just created.
Sure, sharing with a friend is nice, but what if you want to share your beautiful creation with the world? Problem already solved. Nintendo has also stated that stages may be sent to people, or even to Nintendo. The current plan is to have one stage selected every day that's been sent to Nintendo. This stage will be sent to players across the world for that one day and that one day only. After the day has ended, the stage will be erased. May be a pain to have that unbelievable stage deleted if you really liked it, but I suppose that gives us the reason to go create the stage ourself and make it just a little bit better, or at least a little more personal.

We should create a special Wiiloaed Brawl stage and see if Nintendo chooses it.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing if anyone at Smashboards can create some hardcore awesome stages.
wow! Nintendo had a good idea!! its a sign of Armageddon. of course comes out after Bungie makes the same thing for H3. now lets see if Nintendo can use any other good ideas from someone else. like a better online setup(like a world without friend codes!), or maybe (better sit down) a headset?
Great idea, although the one day time limit for worldwide release is typical arbitary stupidity from Nintendo. Oh well, I'm already dreaming up a few Metroid/Sonic-themed stages (*begins planning the Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2*).
i think there could be some internet trading thingy for this cause if you save them to your SD card then upload it to your computer, it would be a random file but you could send it over the internet to the whole world:/
from the sounds of the article from smash dojo, you'll be able to send them over the net via the game anyway. saving to the card is just an option. after all, if you can send it to Nintendo online through the game, it can't be too hard to send to a friend

actually, if you could upload it to an SD card, then Wiiloaded could really have a section just to upload SSBB levels that people have made, then put them in a gallary and if you want it, you can download whatever file it is. ok editors, i think we have a new project

But man! This sounds so awesome already! I definitely wasn't expecting this. I wonder if it's only one stage you can save at a time, or if you can have more. i like headsets, if you can tune out the 12 year old boys who think they need to swear to be cool, then having headsets can really increase your gameplay i think. if only we could make it so that headsets could tell if you went threw puberty and if not block you! that would be perfect.
